Next time I find myself in a situation where I'm dealing with a major issue, I'll probably take that flight home. I was hoping to get this done in a few days. LOL. Another lesson learned.

You may want to contact a consumer affairs lawyer and tell him about your situation. If you have a case and the law is written so that the defendant has to pay the lawyer fees if they lose the case it might cost you $0. Good luck bob and #### that warranty company.

Honestly, it's not worth my time for 2k. The amount of time I'll spend worrying about it is not worth it. I paid about 5500 for the warrantee, and they are paying 11k+ towards this work, so I got a good deal. In addition, there is still money available in the warrantee if something else happens, though I suspect there will be screeching and hollering if I need to have them get involved in more major repairs.

Good thinking about remaining warranty ...

    Update.

While working on the engine, the techs just noticed one of the cylinder liners is scored due to water intrusion from the cracked head.

Liners are covered parts, and the damage is cascade damage from a covered part that failed, so TruNorth will need to pay a bit more, I think.

    We'll see how they respond.

Water intrusion can not cause a scored liner. Heat causes liner scoring. My bet is the cracked head allowed that piston to run hot due to the cracked head. And I'd almost guaranty that piston is also scored.

One more point, since they are going to be dropping the pan to push that piston and rod out id be talking to the service manager about how much it would cost you to go ahead and do the other 5 pistons while it's already apart. 75% of the cost of a rebuild is in what is already going to be done to the truck. The extra labor and parts for the other 5 pistons and liners is a fraction of what you will be paying farther down the road to rebuild the engine.

As far as I know it does. I didn't come close to meeting the maximum payout.
