most drivers have absolutely nothing but a cdl.

endorsements are an added expense to get and hang on to. most don't want or care for the added expense. specially if they never get used.

simple test or not. no sense having some thing you don't use. or plan on ever useing.

Oh, most? I had no idea. Is there a statistic or anything?

Uh... LoL. THIS thread is about van pullers finding they may need a tank endorsement. Whether they planned on ever using it or not.

The expense is negligible. Especially over the expanse of a career. Even if they do charge me extra for endorsements when I renew my license (I'm unaware if they do), the cost is so minimal that I can't even remember what my last renewal had cost. --But I bet the total was less then I spend on internet access every month.

Even Hazmat is negligible if it keeps you from missing a load, or more importantly... Missing out on a job opportunity. I can't ever remember even pulling a hazmat load, but I've had the endorsement since day one. Even with the new background check and renewal requirement I keep it current. In my opinion, I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

But I hear what you're saying. Nowadays the industry has a lot of "minimum effort" drivers.

There is not extra expense to a tank endorsement.

Not true in Virginia, there is a yearly fee for each endorsement on the license.

How about bottled beer/water? A full trailer will total over 1000 gallons..

    Only $5 here in Illinois

    That really suck..

Pulling containers and I was told I needed tanker for the totes. No problem it was only 10 question and $5.

No worries. Individual containers must be over 119 gallons AND aggregate over 1000 gallons to require tanker.

Would be nice if the broker would inform the carrier about the totes before accepting the load.

Seen the fork lift driver bring 275 gallon totes (8 of them), first thought was, uhhh wonder if a tanker endorsement is needed for this.

I have one but, was just thinking about how many people have taken them without knowing.
