We do live's and drop and hook for both Target and Walmart. Target's are by far worse than Walmart, my longest was 6 hrs, mid August, no idling sign (to hell with that, I idled the entire time), arrived at 7 am for 7:30 appt., 6 hrs later I was finally done. Half full trailer of paper towels. Co worker in a day cab sat there for 9.5 hrs one day, company had him get a hotel when it was done as he couldn't get back legal. My very first Walmart load, way back in '97, I was there 9.5 hrs, and I had to help with the unload towards the end. It was handstacked, floor to ceiling, wall to wall, Milton Bradley board games. 48' trailer, broke down to 50+ pallets. Typically, last three Walmarts I've done were 1.5 hrs, 1.75 hrs, and 5 hrs. Sam's goes much quicker, never more than 2 hrs, usually in the 90 minute range, just enough for a nap.

Now that you mention the hand unloads, Striker, I remember back when our local Walmart DC first opened. They wanted dock workers, and one of the things they told a friend of mine who interviewed was that it was all hand unloading. No mechanical aids at all, (other than hand trucks,) as they had found it saved them money on damaged merchandise.

I've never done a Walmart, Target or Lowes DC that wasn't drop and hook though. Don't think I'd be very happy with their BS.

I shagged one less than a hundred miles, it was refrigerated(yogurt) and they unloaded it fast and I was happy to get it done quickly, this was at Cedar Falls, IA.

Had a female security guard at the one in Pueblo point to an open spot for my trailer, and tell me to "go drop my load over there. When you are done, don't forget to wipe." And just laughed like she thought she was the funniest thing in the world.:biggrin_25518:

Both the DC's in Rialto and Fontana will waste you're whole day, so don't plan on doing anything else.
I delivered a load of "Top Ramen" all chicken, all full pallets and they took 12 hours to receive it. They literally pull one pallet off at a time, unwrap it, and then count every single case on the pallet, which means they probably have to restack onto a new pallet.

Sort of makes me wonder who you pissed off! Have they given you any {reasonable} explanation? Are you O/O, or can you get your company involved?

If it makes you feel any better, they treat their own employees like dirt too. Retail stores and warehouses, it doesn't matter. It is one crappy company to work for.
