    Hey guys! Been doing my research on this forum for a few months now, and finally decide to join in the community. I want to thank all of you for the wealth of information on this forum!

    I'll be starting my second week at TDI here in Milton Florida 02/19/2018. My expected graduation date is 03/02/2018!

    So far the first week has been a lot of paperwork and written test, but it all has been very informative. I scored 100% on the final written test!

    I've been very interested in joining May Trucking as my first company to be my stepping stone. Also, I understand every company has it's pros/cons especially for new drivers.

    These are the companies I have pre-hires from;

    MAY
    COVENANT
    TRANSAM
    TOTAL TRANSPORTATION
    US EXPRESS

    Companies who have denied my application;

    MCELROY
    WERNER
    WILEY SANDERS
    MELTON
    CYPRESS

    If any of you have some advise for May Trucking, I'd love to hear it all!

    Thank you all, and I will keep you up to date during my career!

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

    Us express does dedicated family Dollar out of Mariana.

    May has a yard in Pensacola last I knew. I remember May also does mostly Western 11 states.

    I graduated out of Milton April 2015. Practice, practice practice on the yard. If you don't understand, ask an instructor for help.

    And don't be the guy that is still there a month later trying to pass. Yes, there was a guy. I graduated and he was a week behind, came back to visit after doing my orientation with Schneider and he was still there.

    Thanks! I'm definitely not going to be that guy haha. I'm trying to soak up all the information I can like a sponge!

    I'm located here in Navarre, FL and I figured May was a good fit because of their terminal in Pensacola.

    I hear the the Family Dollar/ General Dollars are good accounts. I just don't know how often they'll open up for a recent grad.

    I don't mind the physical work as I just left the food distribution industry to get my CDL. Did that in hopes to get in with;

    US FOODS
    SYSCO
    CHENEY BROTHERS
    COKE

    Thank you!

    They would not disclose the reason why other than my application is on hold and to try again in 6 months...

    You might want to rethink the dollar accounts, do some research here on those accounts. There’s a reason they’re always looking to fill these positions. Difficult backing in very tight spaces especially for a new driver is ruining drivers careers most experienced drivers avoid these accounts. Maybe check into Heyl or J&R Schugel.

    They're great accounts for anti-trucking lawyers. Those drivers are fired every day for crashes in parking lots, so you won't have to wait long for an opening. Don't try again in 6 months because the odds are if you do, you'll have a short trucking career.
    There's some good companies in your area to choose from such as Trimac Transportation in Pensacola. Don't buy in to "they want experience" because they don't. Trimac hires new cdl grads if the terminal manager gives the OK.
    Here's some more and they all hire new cdl grads, even if the websites have "experience required."

    I'm applied to a grant and one of the requirements were to have 3 pre-hires before they would even process my grant.

    Transam was one I knew would give me that prehire letter off the break. So they did their part in helping me get my grant, but that's about all I'll use them for haha.

    We had a Transam recruiter come in this past week to give us his pitch.... let's just say nobody had questions lol
