I agree with what you are saying. Most OTC sleeping pills make me hyper.

Melatonin works 90% of the time for me. It is a hormone that is made by your body naturally to tell you to go to sleep.

Everyone's body is different. What works from some may not work for others.

I have a hard time sleeping in a moving vehicle unless I'm driving

Same here no, go on the melatonin. 2 Benadryl in a pinch works but imo it almost useless....leaves me all groggy the next day

Did it for 10 years with my wife. It’s never easy.

Exhaustion, would keep you asleep for about 6 hours.

Your co driver developing an inbuilt gyroscope - is the key to the other 1 or 2 hours.

Gear shifts so smooth, an Eaton Fuller mechanic would mouth kiss you.

Turns so gentle, a snake would be impressed.

Coffee cup on the dash kinda driving.

    And ear plugs.

    Good luck.

I dont remember how long it took me. A couple weeks maybe. I do remember it was easiest to sleep on coast to coast runs when my partner could get on the highway and cruise.
I also know I'll never do it again -

These are all good suggestions, but it can be difficult to read a book in the sleeper while the truck is moving.

It took me about 3 months to really sleep reliably.

Theres no short cut really that I know of.

One thing that might help is when you change drivers, stay parked and give the other person an hour or two to fall asleep.

In my experience once you have fallen asleep, its easier to fall back asleep again.

You were right to add layers to your bedding. It does help a little bit to soak up some of those bumps.

Just gave me a flash back - I40 coming in and out of OKC.

I knew by the bumps in the road, or the turns she’d make, what exit or location we were at most times.

Which makes me think - the body rarely achieved that deep level of sleep while on the truck. Probably why my doctor tells me I look 10 years older than I am.
