This is an idea some friends and I had based on some things we heard from truckers like:
-it's hard to predict how much I will get paid/how many miles I will run
-it's hard to predict when I will get home time
-I hate waiting excessive amounts of time at a shipper/receiver, and I want my dispatcher to know I wasted 4-5 hours waiting on a load.

It would be something on your phone or tablet.
The main question we would like answered is:
Does this idea seem useful to you? If so, how? If not, why?
Also, what parts do you like and don't like?

Your honest opinion is most important. Please don't feel like you will hurt my feelings; this idea isn't my baby or anything like that.

Pretty much qc on a tablet or phone. Qc keeps track of when you arrive and depart. What I would buy app wise is a program that can keep track of my assignments so instead of pen and paper which 90% of drivers carry into the customer, they could just bring their tablet. Have there pickup number, Bill of lading number etc etc, even tells you how much you will(or should) get paid by entering your paid information first

I search Google store but nothing came even close to what I need so my tablet just sit in the back. If you make that I can be your tester ;)

The "I don't know aspects" of trucking life are true, but no app is going to provide a "solution" to these unknowns. Some of the time stamp features may be used by some. In fact I built an app (IOS) that did time stamps, very flexible and robust pay and reimbursement items and options, kept track of loads, dates, times, allowed for reconciliation of pay and reimbursement items, output to PDF, many types of trip and revenue reports, fuel MPG (fuel logging), and many other features. I got it to a working stage and use it myself but needs some pro refinements before I'd ever consider submitting for app approval. But I came to the realization it probably would not be worth any more effort required to get the app to market.

My biggest mistake was learning IOS and not Android. 8 of 10 drivers with smart phones have android (most are "cheap" and I felt would not pay $4.99 or whatever for such an app and the user base would never support adequate ad-based revenue) and I'm not an "app developer" and believe IOS is much more solid platform to design on and have no desire to work with Android or pay a developer $25k-40k just to talk to me about building the app from the ground up that flows well and is very intuitive and user friendly and can do many jobs the average trucker would desire.

To answer you question your app will need to be very robust, flexible, easy, fast, and fool-proof.
