The empty trailer search is what I dislike about SNI. I don't mind doing my share but like you say as big as they are they should be better organized and managed on that part.

DFO, I have learned to just tell them " my check engine light came on and I must get truck looked at before I haul another load". This beats the hassle of explaining why I want a load removed. Also they can only charge the $500 once you are hooked to the trailer hauling the load. Even if you break down enroute to pick up load they cannot charge you.

Honestly it sounds as if you're on your own as far as a trailer goes.... Not the best business model... DFO is doing the right thing... If more of you did this on the right accounts it would get fixed quick....Maybe you could start calling ahead to find out the trailer situation at the receiver.... Guard shack numbers are some of the best things to acquire.... Along with a little $$$ for lunch every now n then

Like I said a couple of days ago....this used to be a once a month deal, now it's every frickin' week and sometimes twice.

A couple of things.......you mean to tell me there are no mtys in Macon, kathleen, McDonough, or Atlanta???? I call B.S.!!!! And just like you, I'd tell them to pull the loads. Like someone else said, and I've said before, you only get charged the $500 if you get under the load.
The other thing is, I was told by support shift that only the daytime folks could pull loads.....so, I don't even bother with those folks anymore....I think it's what they're trying to get at anyway.
Had the same thought about bailing out too. Get my own authority, buy my own trailer, and bail out of this mess. it's only getting worse and worse.

It's the last weekend of the quarter. They are getting product on trailers on billing it out to make their tonnage / revenue look better on their quarterly filings. The plant / warehouse I work at today had a line of live loads out the the road (normally have 2-3/daily), and no empty trailers to be found. On top of that, they are running 2 extra shifts tomorrow to push out more product.

I've been doing drop and hooks for pick ups and live unloads lately. This way I always have an empty. Unfortunately it doesn't always work this way...

Brother I am so close to being right there with you. I'm just about to lose my mind. I know it seems like if I was really that pissed I wouldn't be on here posting, but I swear to God typing this right now is the only reason I haven't thrown my laptop against the wall of my sleeper. I was seriously about a second from putting my fist through the screen when I picked it up. So I just bobtail up to Atlanta, taking me 2 hours to get like 70-80 miles because half of the time I am sitting in low gear still catching up with traffic from all the accidents due to the rain, yet another reason why a trailer search that long is unreasonable and just asking for an accident bobtailing in stop and go traffic in the rain.

So I send this 3 part message to support shift just to document what I had been through so far (that is posted below) and I bobtailed back up to the Atlanta OC. I found a trailer that had fresh grease on all the zerks so it must have just come out of the shop. The tops of the tires were wet from rolling in the wet parking lot, so I mean its JUST out of the shop ready to roll.

Add it on workflow, get to the gate, and of course, its not assigned to me, and I have to call in and have it assigned to me. So I back up and turn around and call in to support shift to get it on me. I'm greeted with "we are currently experiencing extremely high call volumes" and to "expect a wait time of greater than 10 minutes".

So far I have sat in the drivers seat for 10 minutes just steaming, then got on here and typed this entire post, and I'm still on hold.

My 14 has been counting down for hours ahead of any of my other clocks, and there is no way I can make it to Charlotte tonight as God only knows how long I'll be sitting here waiting to get through to support shift.

I try so friggin hard to make all this work, I never give them a hard time or be difficult, I just do my *****ing job is it really that much to ask for that in return?

Finally got off the phone with CS and they said they had to update the box planner with the empty trailer number, and now I have to wait for my Qualcomm to update. Why? Why can't I just pick up the ******* trailer, enter it in the task, and go???? What the ****.

20 minutes and still no update on my workflow indicating that the box planners got notification from the CS rep that I just spoke to, and from the info screen it shows me still having the "auto assigned" trailer.

I just... yeah I just give up. I'm hungry and tired and wasted a ridiculous amount of time.

OH AND IT JUST. GETS. BETTER.

As I finish that last sentence (I KID YOU NOT, I CAN'T MAKE THIS **** UP IF I TRIED), another driver comes and knocks on my door asking if this is assigned to me. So I talk with him and he says he dropped it earlier for repairs, but that they must have never taken it off of him. So I tell him my deal with it, and that its still in assignment limbo, so now HE is calling in to see what they say. Chances are, its probably still assigned to him and I'll have to drop it and let him take it.
