That’s just lovely for the drivers with collision mitigation systems.

I saw the aftermath of a good one yesterday. Loaded super b tanker went clear off the highway into a deep ditch. Stayed upright but it looks like the truck and possibly the lead tanker were a complete loss. They had a tandem wrecker and 2 big winch trucks trying to pull it out. About a kilometer up the road I saw a dryvan left in a pullout with damage to the rear left corner. Thinking they probably made contact and the super b hit the ditch. Wasn't particularly icy and it was sunny so not sure what caused it.

Yeah, it don't take much. A moment's inattention, contact, jerk the wheel reaction, and it's airborne!
Came upon a New Chevy Rollback Tow truck trying to get a car up a 30-40 ft. bank
and over the wire kind of guardrails. Had to show the guy to take vice grips and clamp on the
post holder tin piece that holds the 3 wires from just falling out - and drive it up and out w/hammer. Then wires go to ground - and you pull car on. Never would have gotten home
behind his foolishness if I didn't jump in.

Reason for edit: don't know - just an afterthought.

I must be sick in the head. I see these posts and hear these stories and I get jealous that I don't see such things. I've been driving since I was 16, which makes it 20 years now, and I think I've witnessed one crash in that time, aside from my own in my personal car.

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that I don't see such things. But, then again, there's a sadistic side of me that wants to see such things.

Maybe I should call the asylum and see if they're taking patients

The minute all those cars with the flashing lights started passing, you should back out of it and increase your following distance .

When the president travels on the roads, the entire road is shut down. At least it was that way in the Clinton years.

You are lucky. In the last five years I have been a first responder on three incidents that I witnessed. The worst was a four wheeler that blew a steer tire, rolled four times after hitting the brakes (the WRONG thing to do). Three occupants, three broken backs. Safety belts would have mitigated the damage to two.

    TripleSix and Feedman Thank this.
