You know, when we were OTR there would be times when we could break out the BBQ and kick back and enjoy... Well we pushed it a bit harder on the way out, and MADE time to try one sitting in front of our delivery/pick up location... There is even a concrete vault cover for us to set our BBQ on :)

So dinner tonight will be beef tenderloin fillets wrapped in bacon (prepackaged from Walmart), corn on the cob and ice cream for dessert! Got the folding chairs out, the propane lantern ... All we need now is a fire pit :biggrin_25525:

Life is what you make it!!

You know it is hard to find those beef tenderloins from Walmart anymore, don't know why. Sounds like you had a good time.

It was nice... Usually we don't push on the way out and get here (ATL) with only 2-3 hours to spare... This time we got here @ 2000 local and our appt is always 0300... PLENTY of time to kick back and relax! Plus we got to watch the looks from the company drivers going past us... Priceless!

    Lady K and Klingon, greetings.

I am so very thankful for your thread. The information has been a true joy to read. I just recently decided to take the dive and am going off to train with Swift (yes yes, not maybe as good as Central, maybe it is, it will be what I put into it and that, as you two have proven, is what matters). My GF is going to go to school after the beginning of the year to join me as a team drive.

I am inspired by what I have read so far and can not wait to get caught up to date on your adventures.

This post is nearly a year old and, I just wanted to say, this has decided it for me. I will be investing in a GoPro or other such type dash cam system. Would love to throw a system that can see front and both mirrors (multiple camera) on there but that will be an investment for later. This is, of course, assuming that this is allowed by corporate as it will be their vehicle.

Reading your story I have a question, which, please feel free to ignore, you may have already answered later in this thread.

I am curious as to what your thoughts are on buying a used truck outright from savings (something in the 5 years or younger category). I am basing this on the fact that once team driving, there will be no outside of the truck expenses in our lives. Aside from the occasional hotel room for the night or car rental/sight seeing adventures. We would be putting away money and looking to form an LLC, or what ever would be advised by those that know more about such subjects, for purchasing the truck. And then running O/O.

At the same time, though, I am watching your experiences here with the L/O and am thinking it would be best to sock away the money as hard and fast as possible to afford to buy outright so as to not have monthly payments.

What is your opinion of that please?

Thank you and I look forward to finally catching up to current.

    Hi RM and welcome aboard.

I also look forward to Team Klingon updates, and hope the posts go on for a long time.

If you have time I would like to read the experiences you and your wife have as you move into this new endeavor.

    Thanks

    Hi Robert :)

I guess my first question is have you ever driven truck before? Have you ever ran a business before? If the answer to those questions are no, I would get trained, go company, save money and after a MINIMUM of a year then crunch numbers and go from there... If you have never been out here before, you might just find it isn't for you and yours. If you buy a truck, no matter how good a deal it might be, if you don't like being out here it would be a big waste of money!

As to the dash cam... It is a great piece of insurance!! Check THIS THREAD and you can see why!
