My wife was involved in an accident several years ago. Similar outcome.

When we spoke with the insurance agent, he said something that I laughed at. Then scolded me, stating it was no laughing matter. To which I responded hell yah it was because they were going to pay the ##### rather than sue. And we both knew it.

And that's exactly what they done.

Left lane is the curb lane in Australia, they drive on left side of the road.

True. Without video or a witness statement they will always pay and settle out of court.

IF their RHD the driver should have braked and veered left had enough room and enough time to see, unless distracted, I run dallas quite frequently as I live in Ft. Worth. Their just as dumb and running through there in rush hour you'll get that a couple times. Its as simple to avoid as laying on the brakes, horn, and slight veer in opposite direction. I have hood blindside mirrors so checking those is just an eye movement, but keeping tabs on those to the side of you is just a half of a second glance. As for that instance with that guy, he tried the whole "they'll see me I'm big," especially if their RHD, he just was ####y and arrogant. Arrogance doesn't pay. But those cameras are a great tool to have. If for nothing more than watching them to see what awesome roads and mountains to bring your bike or STI and run em on.

    It's always the drivers fault.

On my companies csa we have an involvement in a fatal accident. A 4wheeler got hit, clipped the mud flap of our truck and got Tee boned.

We don't look at the csa or dac when we hire, it's mostly bull and we know it.

You are correct. I have a vid right now sent from one of our customers on Friday. I am not allowed to post it yet because the company has denied the car-driver's insurance company to "settle out of court" and it is pending. The car cuts directly in front of this company's truck and then brakes so that the truck bumps him. The whole incident takes place at less than 10 mph. The truck driver and the car driver exchanged info on the side of the road. The police issued no citations to either party. A few days later, lawyers for the driver of the car contacted the trucking company and said that he is suing for injuries sustained in a accident that was the fault of one of their drivers. WHAT he did not know is that the driver had the whole thing on video and now they have denied any money or wrongdoing by the driver. Now that the slimy fraud-seeking car driver's lawyer has been given the video, there has been nothing but "crickets chirping" from his lawyer.

I spoke with the safety manager of this company yesterday. It is a very large trucking company with thousands of trucks - a name you all know. He has stated that without the video they would have just settled out of court as they have done hundreds of times in the past. The car driver picked the wrong truck for his quick payday this time.

The key here is that while the vehicle may have been in view of the camera, it may not have been in the driver's field of vision. My forward facing cameras are mounted above my line of sight, and therefore they can 'see' more of whatever is directly in front and to the sides of my hood than I can.
