Stupid on the manager's part, for sure. I would've told him what he could do with that trailer. -

The way we found out was ODFL and FxF both called us and asked us not to send anymore drivers to them looking for work. One of their managers was pissed that our company truck was jamming up their yard.
The guy never got picked up by any of the places he applied for that day... Turns out it is frowned upon to apply for employment while operating your old companies equipment.Big Don, Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this. -

Anyway, I actually wrote about this guy in a different thread. He was the one that did 18 years of line haul then switched to P&D. He used his line seniority to kick an actual 17 year P&D driver out of his bid. He even demanded the other guy's truck cause it was newer. There was so much outrage that corporate revised the policy to where your seniority does not shift over when you make a swap.... Only your pay and earned vacation time moves with you.
The guy was a piece of work. He was 5'8 and weighed close to 400 lbs. Because of his seniority and him being so disgustingly overweight, he required special routing. He could not do anything like kicking tires or moving a nose load of cabinets.
Customers hated him cause they had to forklift him up and down into his trailer. Not even kidding on that one. One customer was so pissed about it, he called us and said "have your driver call me when he is inside his trailer, I am not forklifting his fat *** up anymore."
Then there was the hospital incident. Our city hospital paid for an inside delivery on a 500 lbs pallet of mixed boxes. This guy made the nurses and CNAs unload and carry his freight for him. He guilt tripped them into it by flashing his 5 bottles of prescription meds that he is required to take. Told them he could die of a heart attack if he had to unload it.
Nobody liked him and our terminal didn't even skip a beat when he was done. For any drivers that read this rant to this point... Here is some advice. Your reputation precedes you. Other companies will find out about you through the same customers you may serve. If you jump ship, leave on a positive note and reputation.Last edited: Sep 28, 2016
