We had a semi on our 67 freeway (Us highway actually...) covered with the metal empty placard holders. Im assuming that it's either a boxed stack of placards covering every possibility in that cab. Dangerous combined with flammable combined with something else. Makes for a interesting load.
I considered hazmat from the view of law to be a very intellectually stimulating exercise however dispatchers in my experience have fought against me when I insisted on complying with bypass etc.
As far as painting over hazmat not applying to a load, I don't know if it's legal or not in the law. But as far as I am concerned a spray paint can usually defaces or removes the message provided by the diamond. -
Yea. And the yelling hasnt stopped on the last one that got flipped... The law was called in on that one. Poor driver. All his stress and sputtering words trying to explain...

I apologize, I should have clarified.
I've used sticky placards. But I usually have hard cards in the cab, that I put the sticky ones on the back of, then put in the holder or tape to the trailer.
That way I don't have to peel them nasty buggers off or worry about them flying out of the holder. -
Lots and lots of hot water should heat up the glue and make easier to remove otherwise try some paint remover or a sand blaster for really stubborn ones.
-
Nice. That’s a good idea.

tape is illegal on any placard nothing can cover any part of the placard thus the reason for stick on. The holder must have a one inch broader all the way around. Illinois has written thousands of tickets for taped on placards.
Just passing by, whoopNride and scottied67 Thank this. -
I agree, the placard is so many x millimeters across and the tape makes it an illegal placard.
-
Explain that to the DOT that I pass regularly.
They have let me pass through multiple states and several inspections. Taped to the trailer.
