Do you use clear tape? If you're using duct tape or something that will technically make the placard smaller, you'll be put out of service for improper placard which will have a huge affect on your PSP and your company's CSA.

They used to have a one to show when not hauling haz that read 'drive safe'or something like that. The feds made that illegal.
My company gave us real thin placard size sheets of plastic/plexiglass to slide into the placard holders with the placards. Even the flimsy ones would stay put. -
Same here. Those plastic shields are the bomb!! No more placards blowing off or having to peel stuck ones off.

do not have to explain it. It the law and you just have not found the right cop to put you out of service to remove the tape nothing can cover that placard expect a dot approved holderscottied67 Thanks this.

Torch to heat them up or a can of good brake cleaner.

IF nothing can cover the placard. Then by your own statement, even standard slip in placard holders are illegal. Because they cover or hide some parts of the placard.
How I tape them on is around the edges, so as NOT to cover the important parts of the placard.
I'm not stupid, nor are the scale Nazis in the Superior WI scale. Who have allowed me to pass with taped on placards. As have Minnesota DOT.
How I tape them on covers even less of the placard than the slip in holders do. -
That changed with 9/11. I got a ticket for that once.
I wouldn't mind having a few of those. -
You proclaimed it, now please be kind enough to cite a source for it.

Duct tape is not legal. Use clear tape only.
Best way to remove them is not to remove them Carry a can of white spray paint if the trailer is white and just paint it over.
scottied67 and crb Thank this.
