This isn’t an issue for solo truckers but what about during that training or mentoring phase? How do experienced trainers/mentors deal with a new driver that snores? The sleeper berth is a pretty tight area. While there is the rumble of the engine, there’s still the elephant in the room... Snoring.

    No problem.

A favorite trainer and I had a conversation much more serious than just snoring.

I was a Christian and relied on unshackled through the night on the FM or AM radio. HE was a Hellion and needs his Heavy Metal Music. Im deaf so that's no problem on my end. But every bit of a problem for him.

What we did was divide the sleeper audio controls from the cab it was about a 94 freightliner brand new etc. So once we set that up he gets rocking and I get my word. Everyone is happy. There are not too many trainers or teammates that were strong and were able to teach me a few new things. He was one of those few.

The other rule he had was a clean truck. Nothing on the cab floor except thermoses and coffee when necessary. Nothing on the dash etc. Everything in it's place. Disinfected weekly.

Regarding the snoring, if that was a problem I would not know about it unless wife complained over the years. Even if it was a problem Im old fashioned. I refuse to be a compliant towards CPAP working on a bad BMI which is causing one of my doctors to eyeball me really carefully. Even if he did make orders I would not be compliant. Ive got bigger problems than that with a Mitral thats really bad. We'll toss a part in there and stop that leaking in about 6 weeks once scans confirm it.

The last surgery they stuck a tube down my throat and flooded me with 100% oxy after paralyzing. No snoring there.

My trainer would yell in his sleep. Youre lucky.

Snoring a lot could be something else if not that, then I guess ear plugs when both sleeping at same time

    G13Tomcat Thanks this.

You misunderstood. I’m still in school. But I know that I snore. Hopefully, the trainer is a sound sleeper.

carry a bunch of these, which nearly any walmart will have, even the local hardware stores, and end the snoring situations

Hopefully, you wouldn't want it to bother him to the point of saying anything to the company. You might get caught up in that sleep apnea bs.

Yes, snoring could be other things but in this case, it’s just snoring. No apnea. I had a sleep study a few years ago. I do use apps to track and the decimal level isn’t more than 60.

i posted before i read that it is YOU that snores (lol)

even though you have had a sleep test, the company can MAKE YOU take another one, since your first/last test was done YEARS AGO....

i'd carry with me a copy of that test results/doctors opinion as proof you had it done.

if all else fails, maybe some sort of chin strap to keep your mouth closed?
