Some of the more moderately sized casinos along I-15 are getting a clue.
Many are offering rooms at $27. And they are nice rooms.
And the places are packed with trucks.
There is ample PAVED parking included, well lit and secured.
The gaming and the restaurants are a good draw. Free coffee. Food is good and relatively cheap.

There is a guy in Phoenix that has a nice, secure, paved drop yard. Stewart Trucking. Nice guy. Offers light mechanical, and PM service as well, no place to room however.
$200 month. Way too steep for me, and no placard loads allowed.

Everyone complains about the TA & Petro in Ontario. $20 night.
Well if you spend $20, that counts. So buy a gallon of oil. Grease. Some lamps.
Many drivers aren't the sharpest knives........

I am reminded of the old Park and View. That was a colossal BK it was a National business in terms of providing phone, internet and communication direct to the truck.

Guess what. Cell phones buried it. Other forms of internet service killed it. Vehicle based television via satellite was the stake in the heart of such a thing. When it finally rolled over and BK'ed part of the reason is that no one is parked long enough for it to make any money. HA....

Compared to the internet that goes to the smart phone on my table today versus this 90 pound computer I built myself underneath of it attached to a aging ethernet that is proving to no longer be adequate for the necessary bloat and speeds needed to stay current.

Even that will go away someday to something else. Maybe a chip in your brain. Now for me that will never happen for religious and personal reasons of freedom.

He wants to offer "luxury" to a logistics industry where the truckers are at the bottom of the totem pole. Also, this industry has been trending downwards in rates (hope that changes), and as such, any "service provider" is seen as pick-pocketing the trucker.

Finally, most of the ammenities he mentions are targeted towards RV type (who have all the time in the world) and not the giddy-yup/go-go trucker whose facing a shrinking 14hr clock

Sky City 105 in I-40 New Mexico comes to mind. I like me a little table game now and then. That place evolved really big from when it first was established with a little lot, a single building with a casino inside. Then they added this, that and something else and how... who knows how big it is now. I aint seen it for 20 years. I expect a full town at minimum by now. All of that on the dollar passed across the bet line at the table.

I hate to think of such a nice place built near Chicago only to be overflowing with Russian Volvos. Ugh...

There is one other monster no one thought of so far.

    Power.

You need a small time 5 mW plant to provide your own power, when all the electric trucks start feasting on your power. Your million or 5 power bills will consume everything you worked for and BK you if you are not careful.

    Bro -

You got room to park this puppy, I’m paying.

    Bring it on.

Parking for the night with oversize, curfews, weather, and overcrowded postage stamp sized big box truck stops and their retarded layouts is a weekly headache.

Need any intelligent input - PM me.

    Blair.
