I don't understand the executive logic, "we crashed a plane and if we wrap it up and barge it up the Hudson River no one will know it is Southwest "
They salvaged the plane in Albany and trucked it all away.
The journey begins - purchased a truck.

I thought he was joking when he pulled out from loading.
And this guy has SD3 given to him from the get go - ummmm - where was that post last year where I was told I shouldn't be pulling flat bed if I had to ask questions?

Thank you for the wealth of information in this thread. Even if i do or do not decide to move to trucking as a career and lifestyle, this thread and Double Yellow's has a ton of info that can be used inside and out of the trucking industry.

Much better Ohio than Indiana, that would have been the death penalty. They would have cut off permits to the whole company until someone from Jacksonville made nice with them.

This is a good reason to obey the law in Indiana. They don't mention the part where LS will have you neutered.
STATE OF INDIANA – ENFORCING LEGISLATION
OVERSIZE & OVERWEIGHT PERMITS
A letter from the State of Indiana dated January 8, 2009 announced the Indiana Legislature enacted IC – 9-20-18-14.5, which gives the Indiana Department of State Revenue, Motor Carrier Services Division (“Department”) the authority to assess a civil penalty against motor carriers who have violated the terms of an oversize/overweight permit or its provisions, or who failed to obtain an oversize/overweight permit issued by the Department. A person who obtains a permit under IC 9-20 and violates any of its terms or provisions is subject to a civil penalty of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for a first offense or One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for each subsequent offense. Additionally, failure to obtain a permit required by IC 9-20 is subject to a civil penalty of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00). This penalty is in addition to any fines or penalties that may have been assessed under Indiana Code Titles 8, 9, or 10.
NOTE: The penalty is assessed against the Landstar Company in violation (Inway, Ligon, Ranger, or Gemini) the additional penalties are not determined by a specific truck, but to the company the truck is leased. (Ex: Landstar Ranger 511111 has a violation – the truck would be penalized $500.00, the next Landstar Ranger truck or trucks would be penalized $1,000.00 each).Dominick253, Big_D409, Oxbow and 4 others Thank this. -
Before you start a trucking company, look around at a truck stop a few hours. That is your pool of drivers. I learned the hard way not to have more trucks than I can drive at one time. Tried it three different times, didn't work three different times.
With today's technology it could be easier, but back then, when the driver was out of sight, you had very little control of them.FoolsErrand, Grijon, Dominick253 and 5 others Thank this. -
