I spent some time convincing him that he needed to believe in himself, after being told most his life that he was stupid or slow. I only needed to tell him something once, and he got with the program - he's a pretty good kid. None of his family would have helped him with the license or TWIC, in fact we're fairly sure one of his parents had messed with his finances after I taught him how to run an annual credit report.

Sometimes that's all a young man needs is a good mentor that cares about them and gives them some reason to believe in something

Someone to check in with him on a regular basis even by phone might have a big influence also. Good on you for doing what you can for him.

Thanks - I check in on him every day.

I have to give major credit to good parents out there with kids - we don't have any together, and I can see now how , errrrrrr - challenging they are.

I think it largely depends on his underskirting. I was a born F up until I was about 20, (now I'm just sorry).....but my relatives and grandparents were solid people that taught me to work hard and be honest. So did my dad. He wasn't long on 'loving parental' skills, but he was strong on things that helped me my whole life.
So, I don't know about your boy, Blair. Might just be a tough time in his life. If he has the right basics and some solid mentoring, he'll be just right.
Now.......where to find an honorable man to mentor this boy?????? Hummmmmmm

    Good luck, Blair.

Man that sucks on your agent. having a good one sure does make life easier and I bet it is even harder with OD stuff. Hopefully it was not do from getting the jab. Seeing lots of people having issues from getting that done.

On the young man that does not have a GED. He should be able to take some classes and get caught up pretty easy. I got kicked out of school in the 9th grade and then never went back. Started GED classes before I got locked up and was gonna take the test but before I could I got locked up. Had to wait another year until I could do the test. Took a few books while in prison and study them and passed the test in prison. Not that hard to pass if he can touch up on some basics. I am sure they have some stuff online to study with.

So sorry to hear about Kelly @blairandgretchen. I know she was more than a broker to you by far. Thoughts with y’all and her family and friends
