I think it's fair to say Blair's attitude has done him proud!

Adding my "attaboy" for helping your nephew, nice job!

Bridgestone R213 - 285/75 R 24.5 STEER tires were all I could find. I always really liked the Michelin, but none are available.

The X-Line Energy Z I replaced had 271,000 miles on them, worn to about 8/32nds, and had been producing a wobble in the steering, just slight enough to know there was an issue. River wear on the inside of the passenger side - I figured they were thoroughly at the end of their life. Dates were just over 5 years old. Now runs dead smooth and straight.

Shop wanted $1450 for the BS, LCAPP discount dropped it to $960.

While digging my records, I found the drives have 321,000 miles on them - they were the first thing replaced when I bought the truck. Still plenty of tread, in good condition. Michelin X-line 'D'. Hope I can find another set when the time comes, but I'll give the BS a go in the meantime.

I prefer Bridgestones. Except for the trailer. Michelin seems to have the best trailer tire. When I put drives on I couldn’t get anything but hankook or Chinese. The hankook’s seem to be holding up decent.

We have used Hankooks on the other dump trucks for steer tires. They wear out faster than other brands the way we use them.

The last set on my truck were BF Goodrich that wore better than the factory Michelins, but had one go out of round. Now have Bridgestones. Really liking them so far.

So far the best I have gotten on a new set was 38k miles on the factory Michelins. Will see if the Bridgestones will beat that. Truck has fresh alignment, and I check it myself on a regular basis because of some of the rough places we go for jobs.

All I could get in an 11R 24.5 16 ply when I needed them. A couple were hard to balance because they were 14 oz. or more out, but they have worn pretty well for what we do, and they handle 55K on the drives no problem. I have about 100K on them now and I haven't measured what's left but I would guess around 50%. These certainly would'nt be my choice for a highway tire though.

My truck came with Michelin floats for the steer. They lasted 90,000 miles. I had Bridgestone next. They lasted 110,000. I’ve had sumitomo on there now for 58,000. They seem to be wearing just as good but about 300 per tire cheaper. I’ve had BFG in the past. They were ok.

Those look a lot like the hankooks. The Michelin I had wore great on the drives, and still had a lot of tread at 200,000 miles. But I had one blow apart and two more that looked like the zipper was coming apart. So I pulled the other 7.

    RIP Dad.

Non Hodgkin Lymphoma - refused chemotherapy after a few weeks, then fell and broke his hip.

Surgery went well, but a chest infection set in.

Was on morphine and comfortable when he went.

    1945-2023.

    Happy Father’s Day everyone :)
