Back in the saddle, 13’ wide. New agent. Sounds promising.

First ‘plus permit plus escort ‘ for a LONG time. Was getting sick of trying to bid ‘all inclusive’ loads , because it invites the demon of cutting corners.

Felt guilty for having to hire a second car in MO, even passed it by the agents ear - “No , whatever it takes, safety and quality first” .

Good to hear for a change.

5/8th hose out the top of oil cooler did this.

Dummy driver saw CEL, SEL and low water lights, cleared codes, ignored as a glitch in the ECM, and continued.

Codes repeated. 20 miles later, pulled into truck stop (not a lot of options for OS parking on route). Temp was fine till I pulled in, then shot up to 210. Shut it off.

    Lost 6 gallons.

For some reason, I had cable tied a bunch of 3 foot sticks of various size coolant hoses, complete with unions and clamps to match, Goooood dummy driver.

$50 for 3 gallons of 100% , and 3 gallons of water, and away we went.

All remaining old black hose is getting replaced for blue silicone when I get home.

Skated in to my stop right at pumpkin time.

I’m starting to understand @Rideandrepair ‘s user name better :)

I still have to beat it out of my head, that trucks don’t fix themselves. I looked at the guages and oil and water are fine - and I’ve had some random CEL/SEL issues before, so I didn’t immediately stop.

Ive still yet to learn to spend money at the house. I’m glad I had all the parts, because I’m pretty light on tools on the road, all the heavier stuff is at the house. I became frustrated at having to drag all kinds of crap around for loads, places to store it, misplace parts, tools etc.

Funny these threads lately about “Buying a truck” - the honest truth is that you have to remain diligent, put in extra time, deal with disappointing times and changing freight - be prepared, stash money away, try and stay focused.

It gets tiring. And I no longer recommend it as freely as I once did.

Some, myself included - can be their own worst enemy.

You had the parts and that is priceless. But just incase you do not have the parts and have a busted hose this works like a charm to get to a shop. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AEBKYPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Used it once and was shocked how well it worked. I carry a couple rolls in the truck afterwords.

Just added it to the cart.

I’ll take your word for it - might have saved me the 6 gallons of coolant.

Do they make a product that removes the mask from your eyes? :)

This is the one to buy for trucks. Longer and better price for footage.

I don't think they have come up with a solution to that one. Ha Ha I am listening to Henry Ford and can tell you from that book it will put you back on your toes.

It's apples and hand grenades between POVs and your rig, but I've been doing all the repairs on mine and the wife's POVs the past year or two. I note that I've saved us thousands just by doing that. I note this because I did an engine swap on my vehicle after the motor decided to eat poop. Long story, there, but one of the issues on the back end of that was one of my coolant hoses springing a leak. Saw your (scaled up) version, and had to chuckle a little bit. At least on mine, it was down at the base where the hose clamp locked onto the nipple, so five minutes with a needle nose and box knife and 3/4" of hose removed, and I was good to go. Obviously that wouldn't work with yours, but in the past six months I've done the motor, the various stuff that needed to get changed with it (ECM with reprogramming, radiator fan assembly, a busted half-axle, some other small potatoes solenoids and widgets and a pile of wiring), two alternators (wife's and the neighbor's), general maintenance and consumables and so on.

All this to say that it pays to be handy, and glad you were thinking ahead before rolling.
