I’ve done talked with Blair privately on the phone about it. Didn’t figure there was any need to hashing it out here. I understand your statement and you are right. His PM numbers are fine. He just needs more work. I am positive Blair agrees too. But if it ain’t there it ain’t there.

But in his personal financial situation he’s not in danger of going bankrupt. Another guy may would be.

I appreciate your comment, and kind thoughts. It has been a tough year, but mild by other peoples' standards.

You reached out when the injectors went down in your area, and offered to help, and that shows the intricate web of help that we have on this forum - even if we haven't met in person. I extend the offer to you if you need assistance where I can help in my area.

"Laying low" - is the age old argument that appears here, I don't need the practice with cheap freight. I realize now that I could support a movement that just 'parked trucks' until rates got better.

But I also realize that not everyone has the ability to do so.

Not just this thread. It has been crickets on this entire forum for the last year. I'm not a moderator, but I can just see - week to week - that the input has died off.

In times when truckers are 'killing it' there's a splurge of content. Here, You Tube, wherever. Sometimes it's hard to conceal the facts.

Now, it's fairly obvious that there are fewer success stories out there.

But you have a roof over your head, a wife that loves you, the admiration and love of small children, and the respect and admiration of your peers. I'd say you got it locked in.
    How you doing on beer?

@ElmerFudpucker and I have conversed on this before. @Ruthless too.

"I'd rather go broke in my driveway" - has some weight.

I did an assessment a few months back on total liquidation of assets. Roughly 1 million. 15% in cash, 50% in IRA , 35% in property and assets.

Maybe more, . . . . point is - I'm glad I came to this country and embraced the opportunities it offered, and that we are in the position we are, after some hard work. Times were good, now times are unstable.

The goal in life, is to be better than you were the day before. To be in a holding pattern bothers me.

Doug always said - or once said,

"If you work a day, pay your bills and have enough to pay for a cold beer , then you have succeeded"

You have a great margin and are in a position to be ok with low volume. Now is the time to get things done that you hate to do when the rates are high. You also have the time to reflect on how you could change your operation to maximize slow times. Do you have an exit strategy or are you going to just cherry pick loads into retirement?

I think what we all need to remember is @blairandgretchen is a New Zealender first, but ultimately a capitalist. As someone who had to hunt for food with a boomerang and a slingshot, he has always adapted and even thrived during the harshest times.

I appreciate his modesty, but he isn't telling the whole story. Blair always looks for opportunity when networking with customers and agents alike and found yet another niche. While some carriers pass out calendars, pens and hats for name recognition, he took a more personal approach. I believe it will pay dividends in the long run.

Ultimately Gretchen customizes dollhouses specific to the client.

For instance, a landstar agent's custom mansion dollhouse.

He also has gained sponsors that he places in some dollhouses like Stouffers.

And he even includes movie characters. This person was a fan of Olivia Newton John and Grease.

Let's not start taking a collection up just yet.

When I met him I was buying bread in oak grove Missouri. He was 5’ 4” and had a little muscle. I said “do you speak-a my language”. He smiled and gave me a vegimite sandwich. And he said.

I come from the land down under. Where beer flows and men chunder. Can’t you hear, can’t you hear that thunder. You better run, you better take cover.
