It’s a risky business, a risky occupation. The driving itself is the easiest part. It’s all the potential liabilities and compliance issues that’s risky. It’s easy to be all paid up on bills, Have $15k in reserves. End up broke down far from home, $5k short on a repair bill, all within a weeks time. Even as a company driver. A few bad breaks, and you’re out of a job.
The journey begins - purchased a truck.

@blairandgretchen you could always park it for a bit and you all go on a real vacation somewhere. Relax a bit and think it over. It isn’t much fun working for someone else as a driver unless you’re making better than I was. We talked about that last time on the phone.
In October after some thought and a new Aviation resume I was hired at my original company before my division was bought out and the job went to shizzle.
Twice the money I made in trucking and other than learning the new position it has been good. Not all blueberries and cream but better. I loved driving and it was enjoyable for a good while, I miss a lot of things about it but hard to turn down that money and much better benefits. Other things cooking on the horizon possibly if the wind blows the right direction.
We will have to catch up on the phone soon.rollin coal, blairandgretchen, cke and 9 others Thank this. -

And the breakdown of the larger cost of maintenance. I snuck in a set of 8 drive tires in there, and a replacement 17.5 trailer tire for a spare mount.
Michelin are unavailable in 24.5LP, so it was a set of BFG DR444. List price was $619, LCAPP price was $483. Similar discount on the 17.5 tire, and used Bauerbilt here in Joplin for a much better experience and service.
Oil cooler @sawmill , and Garners for complete change out of coolant lines and an air dryer, and probably something else - I forget.
I pack every receipt and cost I can find into the figures - it's all black and white tax deductible, and reflects an honest true cost of what it takes to operate. Go ahead, Billy Long - (represented my district) - just try to find a grey area.
