I got one sitting in my driver's door box, a long with a tire gauge, I feel that and a good hose that fits to the glad hand with a GOOD tire attachment are necessities for a .owner op.

Well, @Espressolane - I can tell you that - in this important and timely update . . .
@OLDSKOOLERnWV was not wrong. He is my benchmark for a ‘good man’.
@Razororange visited, and has left the premises, and, for such a young man in this industry, has left the bride and I most impressed.
He did not eat all the cheeseburgers available, but we gave him a pass on that - he still maintains a muscular physique.
That is all - return to your local program.Rideandrepair, cke, IH9300SBA and 12 others Thank this. -

So - @BlairsMum does volunteer work for an outfit in NZ called "The Knowledge Bank" that digitizes old records. She sent me the above link, and I've yet to ask the details on how the recording came about, or the year recorded.
@OLDSKOOLERnWV came to mind for the joke at the end, and a few others that are older drivers and relied on radio broadcast coast to coast that you could catch, well before the advent of satellite radio, or even CD's, cassette tapes, back to 8-tracks. Days when the CB was ALIVE. And we weren't compartmentalized with cell phones, apps, and not even bothering to look another driver in the eye and say hi in passing.
Powell Montague Robinson was my grandfather, on my mother's side.
If you have the time or interest - the audio is there to hear, and a transcript to help with the 'Kiwi speak'.
The interview speaks for itself as to his story, so not much more that I need to add. I had a lot of respect for him, he was a gentle, humorous and kind man, and well regarded by the entire country.
It might be hard to fathom for younger generations, but earlier in his career, before widespread syndication country wide, tapes were recorded and mailed further south - this is before internet, cell phones, Tik Tok, You Tube, and television. He was somewhat a celebrity of the time, a time where most families gathered around the radio for entertainment, and black and white televisions were barely introduced, with 2 channels, that would cease broadcast at midnight when I was young (1985 or so).
Even when there were 3 TV channels around 1998 when he passed away, my Mum and I were pall bearers, and the funeral was briefly televised on national televisions.
So there you go - fill up a half hour driving and listen to the Original Gangster of podcasting - Grandpa Robbie.larry2903, Rideandrepair, staceydude and 17 others Thank this. -
