Ya, I didn't think to grab a camera or even take note of the truck/trailer number at the time. I was just waking up.

I didn't even realize that damage was done until I was on the phone with the power company requesting that they check the pole for bad connections. I had just finished telling them it wasn't an emergency when I noticed the wire and meter down and had to correct myself.

It doesn't matter: The power company is supposed to have those lines out of the way of trucks.. The power company will cough that one up. Just because the city puts up a sign doesn't mean you can put up a 3 foot high voltage line.

Over the roadway they have to be 14' or higher. Running next to road I think its 10'

I'm not saying it can't happen but when you have numerous accidents in a short period of time then obviously the driver needs to do something different.

Lol, you called the power company and requested that they check the pole for bad connections without doing any type of preliminary investigation. You said yourself that you was just waking up so what made you think that there was a problem with any connections at the pole? Was it a premonition? It sounds a lot like you are on home-time with your truck and probably done this yourself. Did you hide your truck from the power company so that you can play it off?

There are areas that the power company does not have to have lines that high and this PRIVATE parking lot would be one of them. I believe that 10 feet is the average height requirement for private properties power lines. He dragged the line into the road when pulling out.

Am I the local power company investigator?

When my power dropped out I looked out the window to see if they had power across the street and to look at the pole that feeds my house, what do you do when your power cuts out?

That is when I saw the truck pulling out of the lot with the line that runs from the pole to building across the street dragging along the top of his trailer. When he cleared that line it my power came back on.

I assumed at the time that having the line pushed up loosened a connection so I called the power company. I walked out of the house while doing so and that is when I noticed the damage. I couldn't see the meter or the line he pulled down from my window so I had no idea he had hit anything else.

I said I thought there might be a problem with the connections on the pole after the truck pushed the lines up and jostled them around as the power came back on after he cleared the lines, no powers of premonition here just common sense.
I'm currently working in IT. I do not think my Expedition is tall enough to hit the lines.

Any company the size of USA Truck will have a driver or two that has a bad day. I didn't post this to slam USA Truck or anyone else; I just thought it was an uncanny coincidence that I happen to be reading this thread at the time it happened. In truth the driver could not have missed the fact that he hit something and yet he did not stop.

You work in IT but seem to be pretty active in a truckers forum. I guess its possible. Once upon a time a did a short stint in IT. I use to to do embedded systems programming. Low level C/C++/Java firmware programming. I don't have an IT related degree though. I went to school for Business and I'm just a trucker now.

All said so well I thought they were worth repeating.
Profile claims 5 years driving. 4 accidents/incidents in 5 years is nearly one per year...regardless of the severity and/or cost of the accidents/incidents...nobody wants to take their chances with you...you ARE a risk.

If we all got blackballed for tagging a curb once a year, there'd be no drivers. Cause I guarantee every single one of you has done it whether you noticed it or not.
