    Back in the 70's and early 80's this was popular and customary.
    But along came MADD (mothers against drunk drivers) An unintended consequence was this not being allowed anymore. NOT saying it was a good thing or should be allowed. Just that is was customary. Still is in sime places, like Jersey, mass, places in Pa etc..
