I would think a year of safe driving would be plenty. I switched to LTL linehaul after 21 years of beverage sales and delivery.

I don’t know about now, but years ago most of those companies wanted 5 years experience.

The problem is a year of experience should be
enough but in these current times drivers with many more years of experience are also applying to the same jobs . That’s why he’s probably not getting calls back

Yea and along that same vein, all those YRC and Roadway guys needed a place to go as well.

Shaw Industries in Wentzville has ads once in a while. Is that too far from you?

Just apply. Doubt you will get hired before Spring since things are slow right now, but I would still drop some applications so they have time to review your information before everyone else starts to apply.

There is no advantage to getting experience, although it is beneficial to be accident free with the experience you do have. It's a sink or swim environment. You will either mesh or they will get rid of you if you can't keep up or break stuff.

    Good luck.

if you live close to a dayton freight terminal apply there. dock if necessary and B driver as well and try to get into the dock to driver program. may be fast tracked because you already have an A license. we are strict about our minimum exp so this is an easy way to get in the door.

cant speak highly enough about the company but have heard some terminals are less than ldeal.

I am here til they force me to give their keys back.....

rather than hope it works out this way, be proactive. call or email hr depts and ask that very question. see now if its worth it to hope.
