Bottom rate carrier right there. Real top notch! The duct taped door sign makes it clear. That KW is going to have at least 5k in repairs ahead of him. I hate to say this but operators like that are a blessing in some ways. They give DOT so much low hanging fruit to pick from that guys like me get the green light. I guess there's always a silver lining somewhere.

Today in Illinois mm 22 on I-64 a State truck semi lost his backhoe, they were parked on the shoulder looking at it, it was 20 feet over in the grass laying on its side.
    They probably wasn’t going far.

    I was bad
No pictures, but I was bad.

Went out to move concrete barriers (K rails). you can get 9 on a flatbed. you weigh right about 78 to 79k. (they weigh 4500lbs each). so 3 rows of 3 barriers. So for this one, they are pulling them off a jobsite and then go down 1/2 mile to a dirt road and then down another 1/2 mile to a lot where they are pulling them off. And then turn back empty, flip a Uuiee in the middle of the highway (flaggers are awesome) and repeat.

    out in the boonies.
Normally it takes 7 straps. (2 each, plus the extra one)
    First load I do 5. (2, 1, 2).

Meh, ti's pretty flat. I'm just going to do one each. (3 total). i'm reaching a top speed of 23 mph and i'm going about 1.5 miles in the middle of nowhere.
    I know, i know

So they realize that one truck isn't going to do it so they start using a hydraulic tail drop deck (that they had brought the lift all's out with) to run with hem.

meh, he's not even bothering. No ####. 8 on. (2 on the deck, 2 rows of 3) and just plopping them right on there and driving off.

ok i was feeling bad about the single, but I'm not feeling as bad anymore

BTW, I loaded (and unloaded) 13 times that day. I cut all the straps I was using to be shorties so i didn't have to do any extra rolling.

I saw a allegedly high end construction equipment supply outfit doing the same thing Monday down 128 outside of Boston. 9 barriers, 0 securement, 55mph.

    That's not something I'd do.

    yeah
i wasn't all that enthused about the single strap, but really, the situation had minimal risk. ( was protected on main road by flaggers, 2 turns and 1 dirt road)
but still, if one had fallen.......................

    but 55 in town?
    that's just F(*^%&*^ stupid.

That doesn’t work on a tilt deck.

I had 8 of those on a Landoll and I got popped for about 3000 lbs over gross. That was my last overweight ticket.
