One time a couple of years ago I saw a guy pulling a flatbed with a reefer tractor. He had no headache rack, just load locks and a broom hanging on the back of his sleeper, and his securement looked kind of funny. I was shutting down for the night and walked past his truck on the way to the store. The driver wasn't up front, and I didn't want to bang on his door just to ask him how it came to be that he was pulling a flatbed with that tractor so I don't know the rest of the story, but it was really curious to me. Maybe someone can make up a story that will help me understand.

    I pull a flatbed with a dump tractor...or was I pulling a dump with a pneumatic tractor...or maybe I bought a lowboy tractor to pull a pneumatic...

I don't care what kind of wagon I'm pulling...show me the money.

I pulled a presecured flatbed once with a tractor set up to pull dry vans and reefers. That was when I drove for Swift.

Headache racks are not a legal requirement. In the past
3 weeks I've pulled a flat, a couple of curtain vans and a food grade tanker, all with the same truck. I'll pull anything that pays, as long as it's not a reefer.

I hear you. I wasn't trying to say you have to have a headache rack or that it was a legal requirement, just that it looks funny to me because I don't see it very often.

I'm curious, where do you keep your equipment? I just switched back to tanker again, and I know I'm going to have a bunch of stuff on my truck just for that. I can't imagine keeping all that plus all the stuff I carried for flatbed with no headache rack or a bunch of boxes.

Must not have come out of Madill. They secure 'em for you there, and do a great job, or at least they did a couple of years ago.

He’s the type of guy to put five 5/16” chains on a 40k coil and ride...

Guess they don’t teach Wylie drivers about the ten foot rule...
