Brooks Tropical in Homestead, FL. Their shipping clerk's window is decorated with anti-trucker messages. They keep many of the drivers waiting endless hours and load only one or two trucks at a time. I waited 30 minutes at the window for my paper work while the shipping manager was telling the other workers how great things were at another place. Thirty minutes to sign my bills, ridiculous.

    MMLog Thanks this.

I will not be going there. I have posted this place as DO NOT TAKE A LOAD FROM THIS SHIPPER.

I guess I was lucky at both, I had no problems at either. The only problem I encountered was at Morton and that was not their fault, it was the construction on the way there.

Obnoxious but correct. That's the meatpatch. There's no point in planning on leaving before the dld time and sometimes they miss that!

For a refer driver patience is required. I was once waiting in Garden City for 3 days past the DLD. But then something bad happened on the line shutting down the plant for a while. I'm thinking someone was killed, but no one ever said. It was back in the Spring of 2008 if anyone remembers.

    Lets see I don't buy

    1. GM vehicles because of how I was treated at their plant in Lordstown,Oh. I was there waiting to get unloaded 6 hrs past appt and needed to take a number 2 and drivers could only use the porta potty but I went in and it was a total mess and was about 95 degrees. I just went in to use the employee bathroom and somebody followed me in yelling that drivers had to use the porta potty. I said no I am using this and they even called my company about it.

    2. Coors products because of how long it used to take to get loaded in Golden,Co.

    3. Kroger because of the warehouse in Shelbyville,In. Was delivering there on a Saturday morning and did not get empty until 36 hours after appt causing me to miss my next pickup. The union was on a union slowdown so they really did nothing at any speed but stop.

    4. Walmart in Arcadia,Fl. For awhile you could not go to the gate an hour early and still sign in at receiving window by appt time because you just stood in line forever. Well if you don't sign in by appt time you get no detention pay and they unload you real slow because they can.

There is probably more but I can't think of them right now.

I was waiting almost that long at Dakota City, NE back in '99 or so. An employee severed a finger and the plant shut down for cleaning and USDA inspection.

Funny thing, when I got to the receiver in Staten Island, NY, I told him what the delay was but the plus was that if you found the finger, you won a prize. He got a kick out of that.
