I started off thinking it was for dummies. I was seven. Minds that like repetition, staying alone and no matter how I looked at it some kind of disability.
I am wrong. words like entrepreneurial, leader, and even prophetic are very much charactersitics of a long time driver.
I underestimated some math to figure my dad's total miles and years on the road.
class A when I was a small boy around four. 30 years this year(maybe more). Most of it an owner operator. 1 accident in a company truck with a very bad boss when it came to maintenance. I think that was his turning point. I was 11.
23 years owner operator. Never more than a month off. 100k a year at least, for 25 years is two and a half million miles. Again very underestimated. Some of the small places he worked for kept him on the road for months at a time. I remember seeing him once and awhile. He was my age then. I would swear he looked twice his.
I just went to the guiness book of world records sight and thought of highest mileage driven by any human being. With humble pride and silence, unrealistical documentation. There are drivers like my father out there who don't even know what thier job and time has accrued.
I hope this post lets some keep an eye and ear open for such owner operators. They really deserve some respect.
My father has no clue I posted this. I wonder if he knows how far he has come and gone.

"Supertrcuker" at least here in Rooland is what we normally refer to as the "know it all" "done it all" but "can't tell #### from clay" type of driver. lol

I was watching an episode of the tv show "American Trucker" a couple days ago and they profiled a guy who has been driving for UPS for 49 years and he has been accident free the whole time. Pretty impressive.
