I'm noticing a lot of new drivers do not understand how a recap works. Too much emphasis is placed on using resets instead, run up to 70 and shut down for 34. If you weren't taught how to recap your hours, don't understand it or can't do the math don't worry, there's an app for that.

If you have a Droid phone there is an app called Recap+ that is solely focused on your recap. I have no financial interest in it, I just happened to find it and know how well it works.

Anybody else have first-hand experience with any other helpful apps?

I hear ya. But look at all the threads here asking about it. A LOT of people have no idea how a recap works.

i know what your saying but if an abstract simple concept like a recap is too much for this new crop of drivers then where oh where is this industry going ....a little off topic but could you imagine one of these guys trying to figure out how to run two log books

these are also the ones who rely on the gps instead of maps, calling customers for directions and such...seems they don't put much emphasis on the recap anymore...i guess the recap will be an endorsement to test for when getting a cdl in the future...
