Since I'll be hitting the hwy with you guys soon and will undoubtedly find my self having time to kill or doing a reset in your neck of the woods please list what there is to do/see in your home area.

In Ridgecrest ( just off hwy 395 Kern County) we have the Naval Weapons Station Base. On it is a kiss butt museum of Naval ordinance. All kinds of planes, bombs, missiles and smart bombs. If it's a war game day you can watch the fighters chase each other through the sky.

9 miles north of Lonepine on hwy 395 is the Manzanar Wartime Relocation Center. This is one of the camps where American citizens of Japanese decent were, without committing a crime or having a trial, forcefully removed from their homes and placed into a military prison camps during WWII. There is a interpretive center full of artifacts and a short film shown every 30 min. They have rebuilt a few of the barracks and there is a self pace driving tour of the site. Secure (national park rangers) truck parking and you can bobtail the driving tour.

Both these places have websites and are FREE Admission (edit)

That's about it for stuff to do here. Not much but it's something when you're bored to tears

This might make a pretty good post, but just remember, don't spend all your money on the road, when you get home you need to have enough left to take momma in to town and buy her a hamburger....

lawn , or go to the " other side of the tracks " and drink
some shine with the brothers .

The Nashville T/A is right next door to the Tennessee Titans stadium. I doubt you could find parking in there after Thursday morning though.
