Praise Zues for guys like this.
The total absence of grey matter actually open doors of opportunity for even the most average of us primates.
Next time you post, try to make sure it's before your lobotomy.
    Lol keelowwnn!

I've been a TTR member for about 4 years and I've noticed a few patterns here. One fits this thread, closely. All these companies are staying in business, pretty much. So they're taking care of their business. Drivers come and go, some stay, some flake away. These people who leave under strained conditions are not taking care of their business. A company like XPO formerly Conway Truckload has a good retention percentage, comparatively. I've been with them 3 years, 3 months as a company driver and 2 3/4 years as an I/C. It could be better, sure. But it could be a lot worse, it's a truck company. Lots of it depends on the FM you work with. There are a lot of fleets and a lot of FM's, so there's going to be some flex. It's like doctors, mechanics, lawyers, or drivers - some are better than others. That doesn't make a bad company, it makes a less than perfect employee.

Another pattern is that the disgruntled (failed) drivers always, and I mean this literally, ALWAYS put all the blame on the company, the FM, the trailers, all that is messed up according to these hosers. It's like a divorce - it's always the other partner. Well, I'd be so surprised and pleased if just one failed driver would say the truth: "I was only late 3 times last month, and that preventable wasn't that bad. Besides, it wasn't really preventable, that guy just didn't move over. And the Cummins I ran so low on oil it blew up, that's not my job."

Something tells me we don't hear the full story from people like Joe.

    Notes: $.42 x 3,000 = $1,260. Pretty good for driving somebody else's truck.
If Joe checked out the information in "Bad Companies," and "Conway Truckload, A Very Low Paying Job," isn't that just more of the same? Nothing like staying in your own comfortable little bubble and using it to demonstrate the profound truth that you're 100%, perfectly justified in blaming Conway (any company, and any driver) for everything going wrong. Very shallow, Joe.

Problem is 3000 miles isn't a weekly thing.

I'll still always recommend Conway for seeing the country. I got to see and do a lot of stuff most people dream of doing. Its just not a career company unless you wanna do the finisher type deal. That's even going to die off or wages slashed with autos.

Sure hope xpo doesn't turn out to be like dhl to you guys still with em.

Me too, Cargo. I haven't been hitting it really hard, just cruising thru my 125K/year, but even so, I averaged 2,800 per week I actually got in the seat and drove somewhere. Like I said, I could have done a lot more if I'd wanted to. I don't really believe planners look over a list of drivers before assigning a load, so it's not my wonderful track record or sparkling political skills getting me good miles. I think planners look at "power" and "loads," and if you're not good enough to be on the board, you're no longer employed.

Strangely, so far this year my settlements have definitely reflected fewer miles. I think the oil wars have sucked a lot of enthusiasm out of our environment, I think China (I heard a news article on this, it's pretty factual) has reduced it's growth rate to 6.5%/year, down about 50% from the double digit growth of the last decade. These two things alone would slow an economic environment, add in an election year with our current crop of losers and it's not a fun picture.

For now I'm hanging with XPO. 4 more payments on my truck, I have plenty of cash on hand if I want to pay it off, but I'm not jumping out of my cozy little basket quite yet. Just shopping!

Good Posts Starboy Jim.....I've grow tired of trying to debate with Surfer Joe ..... It's kinda like beating your head up against a brick wall ...time and time again... I enjoyed my time at Conway made decent $$ up around 55K ... It's the bteakdowns with the pro star that drove me insane .... Happy now in a 2013 KW680 @ 68 mph .... Still has balls cut off but atleast no alarms going off down hill going 80...lol

I have spoken to several drivers for XPO/Conway and they do tell me that miles are down. Some said due to the time of year and that freight is low right now.
My cousin, who has been driving for several years, told me that he always has lower miles this time of the year..

What are drivers averaging right now?

right around 22 to 2300...that's with a lot of breakdowns too. I'm in a new truck now hopefully things will be better.

generally the freight is slow everywhere...I was joking with a flatbed driver that they must make a lot of money hauling tarps cuz that's all I see these days is flatbed hauling tarps...nothing under the tarps, just the tarps
