Here I was trying to glean the deeper meaning of his typing, trying to find a pattern, a greater meaning...

By the way, if you are young and want to prove your manliness then go flatbed and make fun of all us box princesses and our training walls. I'll be over here watching game of thrones while you fight a tarp in 30mph winds.

Don't worry I'll look over occasionally and sit awestruck in your manliness and testosterone fueled endeavors.

Cool. And tomorrow while you're watching another season, I'll be back home with the wife and kids. And money in my pocket.

Because I'm not out here to prove my manliness to you, I'm out here to provide for my family as best as I can instead of taking the easiest to route.

Don't forget the 44oz mug of Mountian Dew and the loving embrace of Diabetes.

Pft, 44oz. Amateur. 64oz is the new industry standard. I hear you can get them with a built in insulin needle in the handle.

Meanwhile it's 1 A.M. and your delivery to the local cold storage warehouse is about to get started only after you sit behind the other 50 trucks trying to get in... Then after you bump your dock you get to go stand in line for an hour waiting to find out how much your lumper fee is.... Been there done that, NO Thanks.

If you hated it so much then why are you even posting in the flatbed section? Did mommy and daddy not give you enough attention that now you go around trolling for it? And don't tell us how much money you make slamming doors, it just makes you look more desperate and pathetic. Run along now boy, grown-ups are talking.

Your response would seem to indicate that flatbed makes you more money then you could make somewhere else?

For my situation, I'm certainly doing better on the money/home time scale than I see being able to do slamming doors.

Some of the better paying jobs out there are ltl and private box fleets like Walmart.

I'm home most weekends and run regularish hours too, for what that's worth.

You got some point here Halpin, but nowadays they often call you when they done-)
I was thinking about trying flatbeding to learn something new but I figured the difference in pay doesn't justify difference in workload.
Also, pulling box you will be able to back up into parking spot at a truck stop in under 30 minutes-)

Just messing with you flatbedders,no offense meant-)

Kinda funny after pulling a skateboard for the past 8.5 years I switched back to slamming doors and I really don't miss fighting a needless tarp coil load that was loaded outside, sitting in melted salt runoff and unloaded @ consignee and plopped in the mud. Because of
    Too
    Much
    Chrome
Undercutting rates on every decent account to starve out smaller companies. It just wasn't worth it to me anymore.
I took a job with one of the above mentioned companies and I can say most days I don't even break a sweat, and I'm compensated fairly well. I can honestly say I don't miss it.
