In the ‘winter’ we keep the thermostat at 65 at nite, during the daytime bump up to 69-70 depending on if it’s windy or not.

If he wants to make the big bucks he should check in to the Chicago lease/purchase companies. Make owner/operator pay right out of the gate and will own the truck at the end of the agreement.

At what point do you think a new guy should do this, I have admittedly zero trucking experience, I've looked at different options but I'm leaning towards OTR because I like the idea of being on the road and I drive a lot anyways for my other job using a refrigerated pick-up truck. Do you recommend this for someone like me who realistically is about to take their CDL-A.

I had a strong feeling that was a bad idea, still looking into schools and training for myself but want to know what the best options into starting out are.

    I don't think I have ever seen a refrigerated pick-up truck.

It's for a charity, they mount a huge refrigerator in the back that keeps food/drinks cold and brings the daily meals to the elderly and homebound individuals. They replace the entire bed and they use a pickup because its enough for 40-50 people a day but I usually end up driving 5-6 hours a day on it.

A new person should never go with the lease option. Going OTR with a decent company, as a company driver, is a good choice if you like driving and don't mind being out on the road for a month at a time.
