i wonder what happens insurance-wise, safety dept-wise, citation-wise when stuff like this happens?

does your collision cover it? can you sue the driver behnd you? does your safety dept put it as a preventable? get fired?

do the ambulance chasers have a chance of collecting?

Yeah, but they did have their bumper lights on, so all was good or so they thought.

Hi EZX, I thought the same thing. Can you imagine all the BS that's going to come from something like this? Personally, I think everyone involved in this should lose their license.

I've watched that video 10x in the past 12 hours and I'm still in pure amazement of how fast that Peterbilt was going

The guy that hit you from behind is sued. The guy behind him is sued and so forth and so on.

According to the safety department, everything is preventable. And depending on your work history with that company (and what the insurance co. says) will determine if you keep your job or not.

Ambulance chasers would love to represent everyone involved. (as long as they're the plaintiff) But he's not going to represent you as a defendant unless you've got the cash...

I've been out here going on 23 years and almost never have my CB on...mainly because of idiots playing their sorryass/XM on the CB. When they aren't doing that they're burping on it like a lot lizard after her 5th facial lap-dance in a row, or speaking of facial lap-dances there are the good buddies throwing dead key's looking for a fellow lap-dancer...and you know how many close calls I've had because of it? ZERO. I drive according to the situation...weather, traffic, idiots etc. Worked with a driver 20 years ago that had almost 40 years on the road then...you couldn't get him to turn on his CB unless he was in Slo-hio or you were running with him, then it was on a totally different channel because he just couldn't stand the mental midget idiots that they allowed to have a CDL, even back then.

You know. I want so badly to add to this conversation. But all I can do is sit back and read and try to file things away so that if and when I come into contact with this type of thing I'm prepared...

We all talk a good game, but we all know talk and 2$ (#### inflation) will get you a cup of coffee...

I don't ever want anything like that on my head. I'm too scared of becoming the next poster boy for those ambulance chasers. That's not to say I don't take risks and I'm perfect, but if I ever think about taking too big a risk...my mind always reverts back to their countless billboards, commercials, and so on...

On the other side of the coin I always had my cb on in 20 yrs otr. I cannot count the number of times my cb saved me from stopped traffic, either b/c of construction a wreck or whatever. Because of my cb I was able to exit or reroute myself before I got to the stopped traffic, us smart drivers kept on trucking around the problem while listening to the others crying "why are we stopped?" "what lane do we need to be in?". Yes there is alot of bs on the radideo but usually you soon get out of range of the 'holes soon, I either turn the volume way down or squelch it out until the airwaves are clear. Its sad that so many drivers let the 'holes drive us off the cb. I depended on my cb so much that when mine quit working I stopped immediatley and got another, it just doesnt feel right without one, I feel like I'm out of touch with the world.

Like semi retired I felt sick watching vehicle after vehicle going way to fast and sliding out of control, especiallly trucks that should know better. I wasnt surprised the 1st R&L slid into the stopped traffic, I've witnessed their trucks going way to fast in bad road conditions often. I was surprised the 2nd R&L come to a safe stop but I wonder how many trucks slid into him?
And that was a R&L truck!! I know I shouldnt judge an entire company by watching some of their drivers, there are surely safe drivers at R&L but I've witnessed more poor than good drivers.
