Called about the shipment posted at $1700. Broker tells me its a round trip deal for $1500. I said its posted for $1700.
I get placed on hold and another rep picks up.
He then tells me the same info about the shipments but then says "aww....yea looks like this requires a 48 foot flatbed"
I said I have a 48foot. He then says "do you have tarps?" I said yes.
Broker then tells me "let me get a hold of my customer, I appreciate the call"
Broker never wanted to honor the posted rate and never called back.
This is why I hate broker's.

While I agree with your heartburn, that still seems like some really decent coin for not a whole lot of time. I also am just cynical enough to wonder WHY it pays so well.

Negotiations can be a lot more demanding than driving. Ive done them both , driving a truck is a cake walk compared to trying to move 5 loads per day 20 loads a week by telephone while sitting in an office. Im always nice and polite to fellow freight professionals and i have allways been treated in kind.
