that's right, EVERY safety dept guy told me to "NEVER swerve, just hit'em"....

musta been a rookie, or one of 'em 18 year olds.

its easy to say dont swerve but its your natural human reaction... those were some tiny deer tho. hopefully not much damage to either truck

That’s why a lot of companies (my employer included) put grill guards on the trucks, for this very reason.

My previous employer actually told us in orientation that we are not to swerve for ANYTHING. Even a car load of kids. Evidently a load of pebble lime is pretty valuable to them. Guess they went out of business for a reason.

I dunno about anyone else, but if I see a minivan with a family in it, heading right at me, I'm going to the ditch, or whatever other option I have. Others may say I'm an idiot, but I'll at least sleep at night knowing I didn't put money over someone's lives.

Yep, long time ago a guy at a company I worked for swerved flipped over a couple times, threw lumber all over the place, they asked him what happened.

Dude said, “The devil jumped out infront of him.”
They put him in another truck and said, “Next time you better run his ### over.”

    Those days are gone.

I-95 south bound, just before the bridge in Maine, a coyote(?) ran from the north bound side, under the median guard rail, and thump-thump he went..
    no swerving.

on the access road (can't recall the name) to the exit 5 (Maybrook T/A) i was leaving the NEMF terminal, and stopped at the deli on that road. got underway and a deer ran across my truck....thump, and the deer ran off, with only slight damage to the bumper...no swerving..

I-495 south bound near Chelmsford, MA, a big ole buck ran in front of me...thump, but damage to the truck, but could drive it back to my d/c center, as no fluids were leaking....

    no swerving.

messed up the front quarter fender, and the top step, and right front corner of the bumper

    i personally do not swerve.

never did. the consequences of swerving, like losing control and rolling over are far too great over some damage to the truck that is less money to fix, then a freight claim, and maybe death of the driver.

It looks like one deer was hit. To me it didn’t look like the trucks hit each other. Close cause though.

and in sharp contrast, i told my family that if some icehole is coming at me head on, and i can "see" me dying from his actions? i'm taking him out.
    I. AIN'T. SWERVING.

i'll not die out there due to some moronic jackwagon, who will then drive by, take pics, and post them online bragging about what accident he caused.

if'n i'm dying, so is anyone else.

Oh I don't swerve for animals. I've clobbered about 15 deer in the last 10 years. Just a cost of business.

But, I'll put it in the ditch in a second if I see innocent kids about to be killed
