From what I see on youtube and other forums, this ad for what they pay seems to be really high. Is that really what they pay? BTW: I'm an IT guy, so I did not click on the link nor would I advise anyone else to type it in.
For Context:
I am in the process of getting my CDL again. I attended, a now defunct, school in January of 2011 and then drove for Werner, as a solo, for 10-11 months. I kept having conversations with my dispatcher and could never get him to make sure I had loads to keep my driving. I kept getting loads into timbucktwo and then swap loads with another driver, I presume because they were team. Then I'd have to sit for 2 or 3 days waiting for a load.
Long story short, after 10+ months, I got out as I could not make enough to keep going and quit driving, giving up my CDL.
This seem a little far-fetched, what am I missing?

Companies don't advertise the worst-case scenario fir new employees. Talk to current drivers at the company to see if the ad matches the reality.

Could be some team driving but say dedicated division so it doesn’t sounds like it’s a job for a particular customer. Could be you are a trainer on dedicated run that need two driver. I did that hauling air freight same run every day with a student. It was not fun but I got the miles and home every week. The home time was kinda was not good because I had to drive all night. So going home you stay up all day again unless you go to sleep but not much to do at home when everyone is sleeping and your up all night nothing is open.

When they put pay on the web to advertise, they take the pay of probably the top 10 drivers of a fleet of say 1000 trucks. I don't know how big Marten is, but let's just take that number. In order to know if a company is full of it, you need to take more reasonable numbers. 60 cpm(average OTR pay) times 2500 miles(miles driven by a good, average performing driver). That'll put you at 1500 bucks a week. Now Marten may have accessory pay. That's what's going to vault the pay up. Other companies have a lot of miles and try to keep you moving. It depends on their business model. A more realistic expectation is about 1500 gross per week. Not every company has accessory pay or the freight to pay much more than that per week. Whether you make more than the 1500 per week is really contingent on what you're willing to give to the company/industry. No 2 drivers have the same story.
