that wont do any good most metro areas during any kind of daylight where there is enough traffic to get any attention would even notice it cause the flow of traffic is already at a stand still and even if it werent impeding traffic can get you a ticket. but for the most part they would just think oh there goes another ####### trucker we have a bad enough reputation we certainly dont need to add to it. the only think that will have any impact is we need a lobby group to speak to Washington on our behalf something better then ooida and teamsters.
Time for some action!

Yeah, going that slow will most likely be rewarded with a impeding the flow of traffic citation.
Remember the million man march to DC? That got attention. Just need a permit. And lots of parking -
That is correct. This is a form of "Passive Protesting." On the same token we can still do our jobs.....but a little slower at times for a cause. A strike is out of the question and will not ever work. It would be detrimental to the economy and us. However.....slow downs is something that can be done over a long period of time. Add a few leaks to the media to gain some traction and soon it will make people pay attention. We are also a HUGE voting block. The 2016 election is coming. This is tactically the best time to get our point across and get serious attention. Its now or never! There is a TON of silliness regarding trucking on the burner right now in congress. Writing letters doesn't get their attention. However.....trucks nationwide snarling traffic day in and day out will.
The slow down wont impede our job....but rest assured it will piss of enough local people on the road to make them take notice.
I would pass this on to many forums and internet outlets as possible to get it going. If you want to read about some of the pending silliness check out the OOIDA website and other trucking forums (even this one).
Its now or never.
PS Its not about our reputation. This is our livelihood!! The only people that will stand up for us is ourselves. Want to have speed limiters on the trucks? Do you love the current HOS and 34 hour restart? Do you love the unfair CSA ratings? Do you love BS mandatory sleep study's? Do you love the proposed higher insurance they want to put on us? Do you love split speed limits? I can go on and on.... If you love these things then do nothing.ramblingman Thanks this. -
I guess its time to email my house rep.and US senator about speed limiters, crazy insurance increases. I will be a LO. I might be an OO one day. The insurance increase seems to be set up to kill little guys and help big business. Speed limiter too, takes away advantage to the little guy especially out west, where speed limits are higher.

So we all do that and screw stuff up and then the news reports it and it gets attention, then what ? One guy wants log books repealed, another guy wants speed limits raised, and another guy just doesn't like Obama or something. It doesn't serve a purpose unless there is some solidarity and a clear plan of what you hope to accomplish.
-
Oooh, There's an 'I hate Obama' line, where???
-
Slowing down? How about just doing the speed limit. This might backfire. In Texas on 10, some places it's 80.
Danny has a valid point. The government is not stupid. They divide and conquer all the time. Think about it. Ask 10 drivers the same question, and you're gonna get 11 answers. We can't stand together for nothin. This state wants this. That state wants that. It goes on and on. And the lawmakers know it and exploit it.
Identify the problem(s), and come up with a game plan. Ideally, we want all our demands met, but let's face it, some ideas aren't really smart. They're flat out stupid. But there has to be some common ground somewhere in the middle.
Start a poll. Go with the top 10 demands. Can't forget company drivers. Don't neglect owner ops. -
Got a ticket in Nevada for impending traffic. 65 mph drag race. more than a mile an didn't pass other truck. lesson learned.

I am saying go below the speed limit when feasible. I pray the media does say something and talks to a driver lol. That is what we need. Think we are dangerous, drive to fast, need higher insurance and need even more regulation.....fine watch me really slow down to make everyone safe and sound. Ya want it....YA GOT IT! lol
Why does the motoring public hate truck drivers...well its about image. Back in the 70's a truck driver were the knights of the road. Heck even the highway patrol and the drivers would talk to each other on the CB's giving smokey a heads up on a drunk 4 wheeler etc. We even used to BS with each other. The media and people saw us in a different light. Now we are viewed as a source of revenue for money grubbing states and anti-truck attorneys. It is amazing, given all the multi-media internet age we live in, that not one trucking organization puts out a really cool PSA (Public service announcement) about trucking on the radio, TV or bill board aimed at the public. The image of us is painted is the occasional wreck they see on TV by the big bad out of control truck driver. The real story is we have the best safety record on the road period. Now comes the accident attorneys and safety "feel food groups" that want to step on us and we just lay down and take it.
