I know DOT doesn't allow front windows to be tinted but I see lots of hotshot guys with very dark front tinted windows. Has anyone got pulled over or ticketed during an inspection for this?

Have mine tinted on my semi and a 10 inch strip on the windshield and so far no problems

@Terry270 has some good stories.

Roll 'em down if pulled over or thru a scale.

Alabama and Iowa loves tinted windows. they make a pretty $$ off the tickets.
-
How does that work when that is the reason they are stopping you in the first place?
truckon Thanks this. -
You are allowed tinted windows but it has to let 70% of light through (you'll have to see what percent tint that actually is).
But yes I had racked up 3 window tint tickets and had just been paying them(I like my dark windows and a $40-$75 fine every now and then was worth it to me) well on the 4th one they got me for "failure to correct defect found on previous inspections".........$1100 fine.
The tint came off after thatunloader, Badmon, brian991219 and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm guessing they gleefully run up to the truck holding their own '70%' piece of tinted glass, enthusiastically hold it up and exclam "$$$$$$$$" before writing the ticket.
I'm going to have mine done - melanoma runs in the family, any hints @Terry270 ? -
Get the electric tint. Then turn it off when they come running out. Stuff is actually pretty affordable.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I think if you have a doctors note stating you need the tint for health reasons then you will be legal.Best check for yourself just to be on the safeside.
blairandgretchen Thanks this.
