The three Dryers i have loaded at all had dock doors where you backed in and they opened your trailer doors from inside the dock. You left your unit running and it would pull the -20 air in from the warehouse. Your precool temp only had to be at zero or lower.
TK S-700 new reefer unit on 35 hours can’t get to -15 ?

As much as I hate places messing with my equipment that is a huge reason why I run my bulkhead religiously no matter what is in there
Either that or I leave the doors shut until the receiver comes out and tells me open them -
The broker gave me the rate confirmation in last minute. I started the reefer and for 1 hour went from 115 F to 50 F ….. probably if I ran the unite for 10 hours, it will get to -15 F. The cold storage and the broker should know these things. There is NO reefer that can go from 115 F to -15 F in one hour. What I learned from this story is: You can’t load ice cream with outside 120F without pre cooling for 10 hours.
Also there is another Cold storage in Golden Valley, AZ close to Kingman. This facility is brand new with large size docks, you back with closed doors, they open and closed doors from inside. I have been there to load frozen bread at -10 F. They started loading me at +6 F without any problems.
Even if the reefer gets down to -15 F when you pull forward to open the doors…. at 120F …. the temperature will jump up to +20 F …Last edited: Jul 11, 2024
Reason for edit: More infobuzzarddriver and ducnut Thank this. -
The load was booked in the last minute. I only have 1 hour to pick up. For 1 hour the reefer went from 115 F inside to 50 F. If the load was booked 1 day in advance then I will have 1 night to run it and get to -15Fmitrucker Thanks this.

The engine is brand new with warranty, the trailer is utility 2017…purchased from Prime Inc

Assuming the trailer is not new, since mentioning "new unit" makes sense to do so. If the trailer is yours, look into Sunshield coating, it helps big time to keep the roof cooler, so it will not warm exhaust air in the shoot as much.
Verdel Thanks this. -
They suppose to have SollarShield on top, AFAIK. But for 7 years old age it may deteriorate. Check it out. Roof is the first line of defense in sunny weather for frozen stuff.

I used to use simple plastic shopping bags when I was pulling company trailers with no rubber inserts in drain holes. Helps a bit.bryan21384 Thanks this.

Wouldn’t of even shut it off after delivering, maybe bump the temp to 45ish and let it cycle until I knew what exactly I was doing,
Oh and you have a utility….
