All you have to do is get a doctors note saying your blood pressure is below 140/90 and you will be good to go. I went up to walgreens pharmacy, had to sign a paper, he took me into a room and tested both arms. Both under 140/90. He signed the paper and listed my readings. I'm using this paper for the place that I took my dot physical.
To everyone that has white coat syndrome when getting BP taken.

If you're that close you might want to deal with it instead of sweeping it under the rug.Diesel Dave, rabbiporkchop, Long FLD and 1 other person Thank this.

My right eye twitches when it reads BS, it's twitching like heck right now! NOWHERE on the official FMCSA medical form do I see a blank that allows the ME to refer to a previous BP reading. I do not know if you are spreading BS or you have encountered a crooked ME. There is enough myth and BS posted in here as it is.

I have no reason to lie. You can call up a DOT physical location right now and tell them you have white coat and ask them if you can get a signed and dated letter from a doctor/pharmacist etc saying your blood pressure is normal and you will be in the clear.
Call them up.jsnell Thanks this. -
Why??? My blood pressure is as low as 125/75 at times. It's only when I am getting my physical that it shoots up to something like 155/85.austinmike Thanks this. -
No point. I'm sure over time when drivers attempt to do this and find out it is BS they will reply. Im a regulation wonk! I need to see this allowed for PER FMCSA REGULATION or it's BS. Goodbye!

Nope... White coat is a legit disorder. I even found a few other posters saying they used doctors notes to pass.
Here's one from post #6 in the thread below.
Phobia of Doctors Office, What to Expect from DOT?
And someone else mentioning it in post #20 of this other thread.
HELP!!!! White coat syndrome stopping my physicaljsnell Thanks this. -
If they were serious about monitoring blood pressure correctly a reading would be needed about a half dozen times over a duration then average it out. Our pressures change during the day and for different reasons but if it is running high or you get drastic changes its best to address why.
Tb0n3 and Aamcotrans Thank this. -
ABSOLUTELY. Apparently the rules have been recently changed and rightfully so. It is simply unfair to test ones blood pressure once/twice and deem them with high blood pressure. A lot of things can be wrong on that day. Having a qualified doctor sign off on you having normal blood pressure is how it should be as they will know how your readings are on average.jsnell Thanks this.

I never said white coat was not a problem. I suffered from it. I am saying to the best of my knowledge the FMCSA does NOT ALLOW an ME to accept letters like this. Show me a reg or regulatory guidance that says otherwise and I will admit RIGHT HERE I am wrong. Also in that one thread you linked to. Number 6 in my opinion is either telling a bold face lie or has totally misunderstood what was happening. These forums are full of BS. Just because someone says they did it does not mean they actually did.06driver Thanks this.
