Wish I was, but I'm not.

I was going to work with my current company to try and gain some experience. Boss laughed at first, then when I told him I got a citation he said "oh ####..."(not sure what that means, but I can only assume possible insurance issues)

This lawyer helped me 4 years ago in getting a ticket on my motorcycle taken care of. It never showed on my record. Hopefully he can do the same here.

    Woodys Thanks this.

Dude, don't take this wrong but maybe, just maybe the trucking gods are telling you to find other work.

I know that may not be what others would say but some people can't get through the tests and sometimes if they do, they are terrors on the road or accidents looking for a place to happen.

Please don't take this as me beating you up, it is not intended that way.

I mean no one who witnessed the incident seemed to agree with you:dontknow:
I mentioned that maybe I should rethink my career direction to the DPS officer. He told me that was ridiculous and to keep at it, it was an easy mistake for a new driver, ect.
I've only been out on the road one other time and these weren't easy places to get a 53' trailer into. Lot's of crazy traffic, too. This is basically downtown Houston.
The DPS office road test supervisor who came out said people don't normally take the test in a 53' trailer. Said they've had a couple other wreck on that turn. She asked if I had a smaller trailer to come back in, but unfortunately this is the only one I have.

I mean new drivers do sometimes run into things, right??? I'm definitely super inexperienced when it comes to driving on city streets.

Thats total bs that you got a ticket. Did you totally destroy the sign, or just bend it a little bit???

Did they have you on the normal route for the road test?

I didn't ask, but I can only assume it was. This is in Houston, TX, so there is a lot of traffic and some of the turns are really tight, plus they all have curbs. It's not like farm roads or anything.
Again, the mechanic at the shop nearby came out and told me someone takes that same sign out about once a month...obviously there's never an excuse for hitting something, but it makes me feel a little better knowing that it happens right there often.

You know how the bottom of signs have that moulding that is designed to break? well that broke and the whole sign fell over. No damage to the trailer and no other visible damage on the sign. The base just broke and it fell over. I just barely clipper it, but It was enough to break that bottom piece.
It was a pedestrian crossing sign. Looked brand new. They hadn't even wired it up yet.

At least it wasn’t a pedestrian....

But it could have been. Good lesson learned.

:biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523: Now taking out a road sign during the CDL test is freaking hilarious!!!!!

Anyway dude, laugh it off. Rookie drivers hit things all the time. Anybody that says otherwise is lying. I took out a stop sign my rookie year in Ohio and hit two trucks. It happens. You should be fine to get a job. When you go out with a trainer, just be patient, assess the space you have, then make your move.
