The problem is the new style aero bumpers 1 inch off the pavement…….

and for the record I don’t like the Texas style bumper 1inch off the ground either.

OK, as you guys can see in the picture from the original post, the passenger side spot mirror is busted. I passed a Level 1 inspection at the weigh station a couple months ago, the officer said nothing about it. My company wants Peterbilt, where my truck is in the shop anyway, to do an annual inspection on the tractor. They are failing the dot inspection due to what they say, is if the mirror is there, it has to function properly. Ummm, no, that is for lights, wipers, horns, not ticky tack snit like an optional mirror.

What do you guys think? My main problem is that they don't have the mirror in stock, will have to order it and hope it arrives before next Friday. I told him to fail the annual and give me my keys, I will take it someplace else. I got calmed down enough and said, how about this, take it off the hood; if it is not there, it doesn't have to function.....

    Thoughts?

It's just the hood mirror. It's not required, it's nice to have because you need to GOAL less, but I would get it fixed when convenient. I certainly wouldn't shut the truck down over it.

More like 6 months. I told the company about it right away and that I would replace it myself. I have stopped by 10's of Peterbilt shops and none of them have it in stock. Finally, I ordered it and it is sitting in Sacramento waiting for me to pick it up anytime. Just haven't had a chance to swing by to get it.

I'd tell them no problem, here is the tow operators number, call em folks up and find out what is what. It's their truck and thus their issue to deal with really. So what, you signed something the tow truck driver threw in your face trying to weasel his way out of something that has to be his fault entirely. I'd play dumb and just say I thought it was his invoice, oopsie, my bad.

You know there is this service that no one seems to know about, United State Postal Service, they do ship things the next day, even on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays so this is how you could get it quickly.

I do THIS all the time, USPS, FedEx and UPS all have moved parts to the shop because they could not find them when the truck is down.
