When has that ever stopped one of those 3 letter agencies?

The easiest way to lower CO² emissions is make all politicians wear a CO² scrubber mask, or make them shut the hell up.

    Certainly not.

It’s been decided that it’s far better to simply eliminate the American appetite for beef. That way there’s no more flatulent cattle.

I'm surprised that they haven't insisted that the cattle industry install a cattle-litic converter :laughing-guffaw:

As I understand it, the decision is limited to rules that are not a direct extension of congressional mandate. The Clean Air Act specifically mandates the epa create emissions rules for all new vehicles.

Plus, there is language in the Inflation Reduction Act that likely overturns the ruling. I'd also argue that because Congress tried and failed to pass legislation overturning these rules, the court should defer amd not try to legislate from the bench.

The article also misses how many new trucks got ordered in 2021 and 2022 that the big fleets didn't get delivery on. Beginning in 2014, we started trading out trucks at 450k and wanted them gone by 600k at the latest. I was unceremoniously yanked out of my 2012 at 495k. My 2018 was at 660k and there was no plan of even having a discussion about trading it in before I got hit. The last two years we've been dumping money into a bunch of older trucks that under normal circumstances we would have sold off, but we couldn't get enough replacements so company drivers got screwed.

In the same vein, before 2020 we started pulling trailers at 10 years and there were almost no trailers over 12 years old in the fleet. Now we still have a handfull of 14 year old trailers running around and about 1,500 12 year old ones. Things are beginning to return to equilibrium, but it takes time.

When DPF was on the horizon just about everybody I know traded in their trucks early. Nobody wanted to be the Beta testers for that garbage.

When I worked at Dayton Freight Lines, over the years I accepted only 1 brand new truck assignment, turned all other assignments down. Passed those trucks on to other guys on the board. If my assigned truck was retired, I just took the truck the guy(or gal) had who got the new truck.
