Let me enlighten your minds for a bit.
These are shots I took of the T/A in Maybrook,New York near Newburgh off of I-84. The first 9 shots are of the southwest and southeast areas of the lot. About 6 months ago the spaces in the southwest corner were all free parking. The last shot shows trucks on the entrance road- something that rarely happened 6 months ago. -

All the images above tell me is that there is a increased demand for paid parking. Seemed like there were more then a few who were okay with it.
No. Nobody holds some spaces for walk-ins and some for advance reservations. What would be the point? Then it becomes "partial paid parking", and not "reserved parking".
Who wants paid parking? But yes. Many (especially TA's) are increasing the number of reserved spaces due to increased demand FROM DRIVERS (and thus carriers). So what? You're fighting a losing battle. It's a common business expense and it's a part of doing business in this ultra-busy trucking world we live in today. It's not 1980 anymore. Good grief. You can be one parked on a busy off or on ramp, or you can be one parked in a quiet, safe space near facilities and food. Which one do you want to be? The choice is really that simple.Last edited: Jun 4, 2018
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
I’m delivering 20 minutes away in Harriman tomorrow and they definitely have no places to park in that town. And due to some s***** paychecks I don’t have money to burn on parking this week (company doesn’t reimburse for parking anyway). At the rate this is going the next thing that’ll happen is everything becomes reserved parking. Where does it end?Last edited: Jun 4, 2018

I'm told I'm so cheap i can rub two pennies together and get a nickel. i HATE paying for parking, but if I'm taking a load into an area that is short on parking i go ahead and reserve that spot first thing in the morning. Its all part of proper trip planing and the cost of business.tucker Thanks this. -
Even company drivers have to watch their bottom line.
And I’m not expecting truck stops to cater to me,although some of the things they’ve done to drivers as a whole are questionable. -
