I just got my authority and no one wants to rent or lease a trailer to me without a minimum of 1 year in business. Do any of you good folks know where I can find a 53' van trailer to rent or lease? I'm looking to use it appropriately 6 months. I'm in Las Vegas but can travel a reasonable distance if needed. I can always buy one but then I'm stuck with it in case things change. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Who all have to tried to rent with?

Ryder rented to me a long time ago. I don’t see why Xtra wouldn’t work with you.

Maybe ask if there is anything you can do to satisfy them. Maybe prepay a month in advance or put a damage deposit down?

Not ideal but another option would be to run "load out" trailers. Many usually allow use for 7 to 10 days.

K&L Trailers of Knoxville, TN will. I rented a dry van trailer with 1 month in business. You can find them on google. They don't care about your business rep, they just like the money.

I tried Xtra, Ryder, Penske, Metro and one or two others. All wanted 1 or two years experience. Penske would rent to me on a weekly basis, but it was $300.00 a week plus a $2500.00 deposit.

I live in Vegas so at this point I'm thinking why not go all in and just buy a used trailer. I'm seeing some decent ones for less than $20,000.

Do brokers really care how old your trailer is as long as it's air ride?

I know of a place in east Texas that leases out trailers for $200/week with no deposit. Or, for their brand new trailers, $1000 down + $200/week.

    Team818 Thanks this.

They don't care if it's air ride. Some shippers did for a few years but very few still do.
