Theres a chain with a ball attached to the end for opening the tails.
To close its as easy as pushing them against the doors..

Open during pre-trip, close during post-trip or when opening doors to dock.. SIMPLE.

    ncmickey and Pmracing Thank this.

Walking my dog one night saw a guy parked with his tails deployed and another truck backed up to his tails and crushed them. He knocked on victim's doors but he was in taking a sh----ower. So perp just drove off and found a new spot to park. Poor choice, too many witness saw it happen....

My company has them on all the newer trailers. They're not that big of a pain once you get used to them. The only ones that they are a pain are the Great Dane trailers we have with double door latches. Can't position the outer door latches on either side very easily without having to deploy the fins before you shut the doors. A minor annoyance. The only time I don't deploy them is if I'm parked and close to my destination or if they're broken.

We had a driver drop off a trailer with damaged fins at QVC in Rocky Mount, NC. He claimed that he dropped the trailer undamaged but when QVC checked their security camera footage at the guardshack it clearly showed the trailer entering with the damaged fin.

I saw a truck with inflatable wings (true story). I've only seen one but I thought it was a great idea. Looked like they automatically inflated and deflated. I don't have any aero devices on my trailer but I'm considering getting the under tray system. Looks more durable than the side skirts and trailer tails. I see a lot of them tore up.
