4 months is not long but you’ll see tell tale signs of good and bad tire as you get more experience!

My driver who started in Sept of last year had 4 tires on the trailer in one month, different positions ...i was guessing whats going on too because i was pulling that trailer for over one year and never had problem , no mismatched tires but i knew trailer was sitting for 2 years before i started ... Btw the trailer was only 1 year old . But i knew better than driver ... After that never had any single tire punctured , blown etc ...

Hello Levi027, I take your a company driver and drop and hook often? That comes into play just like playing Russian roulette except with Trailers. There are many other drivers who had the trailers before you, you do not know how fast they drive or where they have driven and that is what I would remind your drive manager of if you are a company driver and drop and hook. You sound like a very safe and careful driver as your looking for answers and I see got a lot of good replies on here. Drive safe and God Bless You!!!

Tires may have been checked during pretrip, but who checks the tires that have blown to pieces with a fine toothed comb to determine why it failed? All shops just install a new one and driver keeps driving.

Multiple tire failures in a short time usually ends up with the shop guy eyeing the driver instead of the tires themselves.

I’ve had one explode on a loaded dump trailer, but no idea why it happened. Nothing left of the tire.

My boss’s son drives a dump truck. Had several exploded tires in one year. (I know why, I see he doesn’t do his tire checks)

I have mentioned to the boss but it’s his son.

The other possibility is just plain bad luck. Bad side wall, ran over a nail then tire got hot from low pressure etc.

Buy a good one like this. It is made for checking duals and it a lot easier on you.

Are you checking tire pressure with a gauge or just kicking the tires? Kicking the tires only tells you if the tire is flat. Are these flat tires happening on the same trailer?

Thanks everyone for your insight. Seriously helpfully. And yes I drop and hook almost every time. All 3 blow outs on different trailers.

Sounds like your company is running crappy tires on their wagons. Wonder what else they're cutting back on?

    Good Example.
Boss. “Wth? Again? You are on your 4th tire in less than 90 days!!
It isn’t even hot yet, so What’s up with that??”
You that your boss hears *mumble mumble yada yada*
Boss. “Don’t give me that! I don’t want to hear it! One more time, just one more time and it’s coming outta yer pay!”

Wow, I am getting good at this, I could be a terminal manager..
