    I am new to the trucking profession, and I plan to make a career of it. My recent experience had me thinking twice about my initial commitment, so I have come here to ask what you would do if you were confronted with the following issues:

    1. "Trainer" drove during times I was supposed to be driving;
    2. "Trainer" used many copies of a loose leaf log book to "adjust" prior logbook pages (no e-log);
    3. "Trainer" consistently tailgated other traffic, regardless of the vehicle and its occupants;
    4. "Trainer" would not let me practice backing at any shipper and consignee;
    5. "Trainer" would not let me drive beyond two hours each day;
    6. "Trainer" encouraged the use of empty Gatorade bottles instead of stopping for relief;
    7. "Trainer" mandated walking between the passenger seat and the bunk while moving for exercise;
    8. "Trainer" would not allow the use of a motel room during a 34 hour reset;
    9. "Trainer" averaged 68MPH in the loose leaf log pages; and,
    10. "Trainer" drove nearly 1,800 miles to my home town and ordered me out of the truck.

    The part about number 10 that I am thankful for is that I arrived home safely. What I am wondering now is what happens next and what I should or should not do. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

    Thank you!

    This guy was not a trainer, just using you for extra miles & money.

    Get a new trainer or a new co.

    Real simple answer; find a new job. Just put this bad experience in the past and move on. Plenty of good jobs waiting for you.

    I'm in my fifth week of training, have had three trainers, and none of them are doing what you are experiencing.

    1st thing is simply get a new trainer at the company you work for, and let the training manager know what happened. If the 2nd trainer is just as bad, get back home and get a new company. I know we all hear horror stories, but from my experience most trainers actually want to train and the extra money is just a nice bonus.

    It's an extremely small company in Wisconsin. Since the "Trainer" is the problem more than the Company (extremely nice, devoted to ensuring its drivers are safe and operate safely), I'd like to keep that part private. How do I send a PM to you, w.h.o.?
